Here is the irony of Shrek and EB
I've been camping for over 25 years
Not much has changed in my eyes in 25 years of camping.
Campgrounds all look the same with same types of happy camping decorations
Except one thing that I cannot help noticing
In 25 years of camping, never saw a single candidate political flag. NEVER for anybody.
Campgrounds are friendly, rustic, enjoy outdoor nature atmosphere. Not a place for politics
Until now
Last campground, huge Trump 2020 flags. This campground, huge Trump 2020 flag.
I'm sure people here have seen them, very popular with Trump supporters.
Ironic isn't it. LOL I'm camping with EB and Shrek's people. Ain't life strange :-)

Ha, that is quite ironic. I don’t think anything about the outdoors automatically indicates political preference, but you look at hunting, guns and stuff like that and those are all things I’d be more likely to slightly associate more with Conservatives.

RV sales are surging.

Quote:
Executive Vice President Paige Bouma said the site recorded 5.4 million unique visitors in June, the first time since the Norfolk, Virginia, company was founded in 1989 that it had passed the 5-million threshold.

"There are so many people asking or trying to figure out how to get into RVing right now," Bouma said, noting that demand for rentals has been just as strong. "In addition to RVing being safer during the time of Covid, most vehicles have WiFi capabilities, which means they're easy to park and set up as remote offices,

Even luxury RV brands are seeing record-breaking sales.

Ken Goss is owner of Goss RV Motorcoach Sales, which sells some of the most high-end motorhomes, and he said his sales figures rose 211% between June 2019 and June 2020.

Bob Wheeler, CEO and president of Airstream, reported that his company set an all-time sales record for the month of May, then beat that record in June. As of press time, Airstream did not have data for July, but in mid-July, Wheeler predicted it likely would be just as strong.

Not a good sign. Buying something
that depreciates daily instead of
something that goes up in value
is the sign of a faltering economy.

Well, assuming the demand is driving up the price, now is a better time to sell one than buy.

Exactly. No matter how much they
gush on RV parks, they are a last
ditch place to live. Nobody has the
ambition to someday live is an
RV park. No matter the size and
expense of the RV, it's like living
in a motel room as far a sq ft goes.
Or a large prison cell..

I’m beginning to get the impression that EB has never actually been in an RV.

I’d still buy one, just not now. My parentS spent many retirement years renting an RV up North during summer months.

Interesting thread. Ed tells us how much he is enjoying the RV life and Bob tells him he is wrong. I think Ed has planned this out pretty well for himself, both mentally and financially. Bob is hung up on the fact that Ed's RV is not a good investment and is depreciating. Ed is hung up on the fact that he is loving life. Ed.... I started today with SEVEN straight pars!!!! then a bogey, then a birdie! EVEN PAR nine holes! (9 over on the last nine...) If you make it up here I'll treat you to a round!

He's not wrong. Some people
love living a lesser life in a
space the size of a large closet
surrounded by 'RV type' people.
For me, I'd have a gun to my head
by the 3rd day. Just the total lack
of storage area would drive me
insane. I have a garage, a basement,
an attic, a 1000 sq ft barn for storage.
It's heaven.
