Nah. Take the 180 billion and invest it. I'd first start with infrastructure, the closest thing to a free lunch in economics. Republicans of course blocked infrastructure investment under Obama because they knew it would help the country which of course was bad politics for them. Party before country.

Take some of the savings we'll get from de-militarizing the police and invest it in community policing, infrastructure and education.

Require Walmart to pay their employees living wages so the taxpayers aren't subsidizing them with safety nets.

Invest in training programs and vocational education.

Take money out of politics so the people with all the money cease to dictate policy that affects all of us.

And since wages have barely, barely kept up with inflation since the 70s, raise the minimum wage already.

You could have said "spend it on pork" and saved some typing.

I don't hate Jeff Bezos. But I hate the system that enables him. There's a better way.

Sure you do. You are foaming at the mouth in your posts. You clearly hate capitalism. You think you deserve what he has by your mere existence.

So we "replace the system" with what exactly? Socialism that has force millions, er, billions of people to poverty?

And the rest of your bulls**t about bottom earners doing better? What are you basing this off? Oh that's right, air conditioners are standard now. I forgot. This was your expert analysis the last time we spoke about it.

Air conditioners, TVs, cars, iPhones, laptops. You name it! Isn't that what "doing better" is about? A more comfortable life?

A bottom earner today lives far better than a middle earner did even 50 years ago. When you do not steal the money of people who earned it they can invest it in more things causing more productivity which creates more wealth for all.

But if you think it is so easy, perhaps you should go start a business?

or they can just set records with stock buybacks with their savings and then have the f**king gall to ask the taxpayers to bail them out when s**t hits the fan, rinse/repeat

News flash for ya. There is NOTHING wrong with a stock buyback. In most cases they are a good idea. Do you know how stock and investing works?

Asking for a bailout because the government shut your business down is not wrong.

Yes, all campaigns send out desperate-sounding fundraising emails, but this one seems especially funny:

They just can’t quit Hillary. Biden doesn’t conjure up the same irrational hatred amongst the base...

You will still have people shooting up all over. Just look at how many beer cans and booze bottles you find around. Go to SF where they have effectively decided to tolerate it and all the needles lying on the sidewalk.

I have no real issue with the feds selling Blue Sky Meth and Blue Magic heroin anymore. Just keep the users off the dole. Collapse is coming anyhow.

So, we essentially agree on this. Also, people litter anything. You could make the same argument about pop/soda cans.

You could also create places TO shoot up. Staffed. Safer environment. I imagine such locations would be very profitable.

Americans are slobs when it comes to litter, always have been. Though I really want the needles not all over the place. Was it Wheeling where I saw the signs for needle day?

No, it would not be profitable. Junkies are broke and will not pay.

That is the theory but not the reality. In Canada we legalized marijuana in Oct 2018. Since then the legal marijuana channel has gained about 1/3 of the market. The illegal market still has the other 2/3rds. Why, because the illegal market is more efficient and can sell it cheaper. Every step of government thought they would make a killing with taxes. Does half the cost of the legal stores count as MASSIVELY cheaper?

I have two similar-enough jars of peanut butter. One jar costs $6, the other costs $3, which one do you want to buy?

So, yes, the privatized businesses and/or Government are going to have to get the prices down to at least maybe something like 120-125% of the illegal market can provide, in my opinion. It should also be more efficient to go to a legalized place, as well.

I think Canada will reach that point in the long run. It'll take some years to optimize everything as well as get new users turned on to the product.

Not junkies, but not every alcohol user is drinking MD 20/20, if you get my meaning.

Needle Day? I'm not sure. I know there was a big day for taking syringes to pharmacies for disposal, at some point, but that was mostly asking diabetics and the like to dispose of them properly...they also wanted any unused meds on the same day.

Lets just agree on the low end people will get their fix on the street and leave it there for others to clean up after. Watching "COPS" or "LIVE PD" you see how they cannot wait until they get home.

Some courthouse had it, I have seen so many. It was an exchange day. Kind of thing made us make sure our laptops were watched.
