Maybe the part where he says "you" specifically referring to me? Also the part where he says I am stupid for showing the mental health benefits in a study and it was a waste of a study when the primary goal of the study was to show the effects on employment and the mental health benefits were just a side factor? |

I didn't read it that way. I read it to say that the study was a stupid waste of time, not as a insult to you. I'm not going to go back and forth about it; people can feel insulted even if there wasn't a personal insult directly made or intended. |

No. I would expect anyone who is a native English speaker to understand the sentence structure and context. "You" means ANYONE who quotes such a study is stupid. Because anyone knows if you give someone of average to below average means $600 a month it will "reduce their stress." We also know that they will eventually "grow into" getting the $600 and the stress will all come back again. No "study" needed. In fact, this is how people get recruited to do bad things. A crook, pimp, or whatever feeds a small sum of money for doing innocent things. Then they depend on that money. As time goes on, the "things" get bigger and bigger, until that person is doing just what the aggressor wants them to do. This is taught in "Pimping 101." (For those of you in Rio Linda, that last part is a joke. The rest is all too true.) Please quit waiting to be offended. As others have pointed out, some of us here were called "pedophiles." THAT is an insult. No action was taken. The President is a fink. |

Great point. For wealthier people this concept is referred to as "golden handcuffs". You are making $100k and feel rich. You get a raise to $150k and buy a bigger house, nicer car, and now you don't feel as rich, and are not in as good shape to handle a temporary job loss, or stock market downturn. I've always tried real hard to avoid those handcuffs. Small house, cheap car for my income level. Keeps stress down. No study needed. |

Sometimes called a "honey pot" but I always heard golden handcuffs. Don't need to be all that wealthy. My place paid a bonus in late April to make sure managers did not quit before busy season was mostly over. I really read about it in "Beyond the Cloak and Dagger." About informant recruiting. Book example is guy dates a woman works at a lower level job at target company. Starts giving her $100 a week. After a few weeks she is hooked, now NEEDS the $100. So then he asks her to do something small, he does not even need what he asks for. But he is "grooming" her. Sooner or later he owns her and gets what he needs. Bought the book for $0.50 or so at a garage sale, one of the better books I have ever read. I do similar to you. Live below my means. I was "handcuffed" years ago, never again. For the first time in my life I have some effyooo money. Hoping stocks and bitcoin take off, then I gots me effeveryone money. No waiting around for UBI! The President is a fink. |

Is that what you did, huge metal awning guy? I looked at metal awnings once, I had to lay down after my eyes bugged out of my head. Mr The Villages guy? It costs an average, including the mortgage payment, of $4000 a month to live in The Villages. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

LOL.... huge metal awning guy! I can assure you it's not huge. The guy called back and said one guy will be coming next week to put it up. It was part of the house when I bought it. No idea what it would cost new, frankly. $4k is a WAY more expensive house than I will be looking at. Say $400k house. Mortgage $1400 a month. Real Estate taxes/Villages fees/gas/ electricity maybe $1000 a month? I'll add $600 a month for other stuff just to round up to $3k. Well within my budget. |
