A good example is Australia

Apples and oranges. You cannot compare
a country that has far less population than
Calif or Texas, with the entire US. A VAT
tax here would be a logistical nightmare.
And we ALREADY spend way too much
money wastefully, you want to give them
even more to spend so you can have
all your pie in the sky lib giveaway programs.

Never gonna happen.

Every Example is not a valid example. I guess the largest state is America is too small of a sample size?

Because it is not a sample at all. You are not getting it. National wealth is the PEOPLE"S WEALTH. Ditto state wealth. All AK is doing is distributing royalty income direct instead of wasting it on things people do not want.

Yeah, prices will go up with a VAT tax. But, the vast majority of Americans will see a net benifit. Only, those in the top tax bracket may see a decrease.....

You are very brainwashed to keep believing government promises like this. Ever see the promise that the most FICA you will pay will be like 1.5%" Quit believing that taxes can magically steal more from someone else to give you a net benefit.

Quote:
UBI has been proposed in the past by leading federal land, leasing drilling rights in U.S. waters, etc.... But, this is unlikely on the Federal Level. The fact is we will need taxed (VAT at the very least) to fund UBI.

In AK oil dividend levels (vary drastically year from year) has no effect on employment or education, people still are motivated to work and study.

Because you cannot live on the AK royalty checks. They are just a nice little bonus. Why do you want to pay so much more in taxes?

Everything is apples and oranges because there is not one identical country.

You always say "no examples", then "oh well those examples don't count"...

VAT is generally successful at creating more government revenue in every country that implements it.

No kidding! It's a huge tax increase
on top of all the other taxes. And
it makes the cost of EVERYTHING
go up, but wages do not rise, so
the poor are even poorer because
a loaf of bread costs more with no
benefit to them.

Once you enact a new tax like VAT,
and the gov't gets used to having
all that extra money, it will never
go away. You're stuck with it forever.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

I don't get why people like yourself want to pat more taxes. A VAT is awful because you do not realize how much the government is taking from you. Why on earth would any rational person WANT a VAT?

And what on earth is great about creating more revenue for the government? More revenue for the government just means you paid more in taxes. But what is laughable is the same people who want a VAT to give the government more revenue get bent out of shape when a corporation makes more profit. They say they "paid more because of 'greedy' company execs!"
