It is not wealth from nothing, and nobody is claiming it as such. It is wealth redistribution through value added taxes and increased tax rates. |

That is wealth from nothing. Well, wealth from theft. And I hate to break it to you, but that UBI you want so bad? Wait until the VAT eats it and more day by day. I would like it if you would find a former USSR citizen and ask how well socialism works. There is one on YT that does real good bits, asking these crazy kids what on earth they are thinking. When I was a child I would ask my parents wasn't capitalism based on one of the basest human emotions, that of greed. They told me that communism was based on another even baser emotion, that of jealousy and covetting. “Harrison Bergeron” was a short story by Kurt Vonnegut about a society founded on the principles of egalitarianism. Ballet dancers are artificially hindered so that they are not better than an average person. |

People who favor socialism I have found to be the greediest out there. Or maybe just jealous and lazy.

USSR is not a fair comparison. UBI would provide more freedom to people. |

Sure it is. They guaranteed equality for all. Jobs you couldn't be fired from. Housing for everybody. Equally distributed wealth. It was a utopia, look it up and see what living there was like. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

How would stealing so much money provide "freedom?" You are spouting the same rainbows and unicorns we hear for any social program. And they rarely come close to providing what is promised. This is because the math NEVER works. What you seem to want is a sugar daddy who will pay your rent while you "follow your dreams" instead of getting a real job. That is what the UBI supporters all seem to want. Its "wah wah wah, I want to be an artist but I have to work 40 hours a week to pay rent and buy food!" The USSR is a perfect example. Venezuela is a perfect example. Even KSA realizes they cannot keep people on the gravy train forever, and their government does create wealth via Saudi Aramco. I know, I know. It did not work in these places because "the right people were not in charge" and "people like AZD don't want to go along with socialism." Am I close? The President is a fink. |

This is an old concept. For centuries artists were subsidized by rich patrons while they produced their art. But the caveat was, they had to have actual talent first. They didn't just declare themselves an artist and some rich old lady gave them money. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |
