Illegal aliens would like to thank the rioters for their sacrifice. Finally Trump and his followers might have less time to demonize them for trying to work hard at low wages.
You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really?

I agree.

I think it showed in the increased wages offered by manu stores during the pandemic desperate for workers.

It shows that its probably the wages that they should have been paying the whole time....

Ah, I always love when people who have never ran a business say "just pay your employees more!" Like it is magic.

Wages are basically always the highest cost line item on the P&L already. But to some people it is still not enough. Just pay them more!

In many small businesses the owner will go weeks to months with no paycheck for himself but just pay the employees more!

Serious, I do not take that line serious from anyone who has not run a small business. Has not run ANY business.

It is no different than telling the losing team to "just score more points."

But the big takeaway from people not showing back to work? UBI will create a layabout class who refuse to work.

Well it shows this, stores who are not paying more than UI pays had trouble keeping workers.

The stores that offered increased salaries because there were less people applying and far more customers did well.

I am not talking about small businesses, but big box stores and delivery companies.

Big box or small business it does not matter, there is a cost limit for labor.

Yes, some places increased salaries. You do that when you need a lot of labor fast. I get paid $30-50 for working a dealing gig. Can a casino pay that? No way.

If you increase UI by $600 a week of course people are going to make more at the low end. But as soon as a callback order is given those payments need to end. Right then. Let people layabout on their own dime.

This is always a problem with legislation that is rushed through. I don't blame either party; it is a part of the system that lets things go through in emergencies that would not stand up to hearings and other scrutiny. Someone put it in, of course, but the legislation was necessary given the pandemic. Perhaps the lesson learned is that UI enhancements should be capped at 75%-80% of eligible wage.

The workers who are offered their jobs back and don't come back should be replaced with willing workers. A dentist locally has three assistants who did not come back. He is a cheapskate and does not pay particularly. Those workers will be replaced with others but they will leave when they can get a better paying job in the field. That is one issue with being cheap...worker retention.

wow, quite the statement by James Mattis

https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2020/06/james-mattis-denounces-trump-protests-militarization/612640/

Queue trump worshippers calling Mattis a hack

Just like George Will, he has the right to his own opinion.

It is funny how offering the military option but not employing it unless absolutely necessary is such a horrid thing to some. It has been done before. It probably will be done again. If the city government fails to stop the crime, send in the Guard. If that doesn't work, go to the next level. You can't just let the criminal element bury the lead that the peaceful protesters want heard.

Peaceful protests does not involve illegal actions, save possibly blocking streets or staying out too late. Specifically, it should not involve any that endanger others, the property of others, or the property of all of us.

I hear the condemnation for everything the President does; where is the condemnation from the left for the actions of people hijacking the cause?

Where are their ideas for making things better? Kneeling and decrying your white privilege won't fix a thing. It will take actions, not words. The people using words will be back in their nice homes and in their routine. What will get done?

It makes them feel better about themselves. They will call Trump a racist, praise the demonstrators, and make excuses for the looters. Then Karen goes home and makes her nail appointment for the next day.

The first 'idea' for making things better IS happening right now. The charging of the other 3 officers with a felony murder charge is what many of the protesters want. Of course I can't state it with 100% certainty, but if there were no protests I would guess the other 3 officers would not have been charged with such a serious crime. Probably either ignored or let off with a plea deal on some misdemeanor.
I'll also bet that the next time any major city has a police chief opening, a Black man will get the job over an equally or even more qualified White man. The protests have sped up that process.

But of course, as a White cop, you will now do your darndest not to be in a position where you may need to use force to subdue a Black criminal. You'd now probably let them go rather than tackle them trying to flee. What if the criminal breaks an arm falling while I tackle him? What if he's coked up and has a heart attack while I'm arresting him? The pendulum will swing too far the other way, with the consequence being more criminals will be allowed to roam the streets in the areas most in need of getting them off the streets. What neighborhood do you think the looters returned to with all the loot?

This part will totally happen. Whites will not take the risk and just work in the better suburbs. You would have to be nuts to be white and work in a black area. How the black cops will handle it remains to be seen.
