AFAIK, most or all of these guys stayed in their own country fighting a foreign force. What would you call Americans who did the same in America?

Yup, their head guy Muhlar Omar, approved hiding bin Laden, but who knows how many of these guys were involved in that at all at the time.

We've called this thing a "war" but apparently it was a war without a possibility of being under POW rules according to some.
