Aw c'mon Ron, the puny minds of right wing TV land must be failing you guys. These 5 will be cooling their heels for a year with their families. They may yell like Richard Pryor in a skit, stop holding me back, but they'll be in no hurry. We have their DNA. We know their Family , relatives, friends by now. They probably have a dozen microchips embed in their anal area alone. We'll know who they meet or talk to while they hang out and especially anyone new. Just more info. Meanwhile, we are drawing down in Afghanistan. Ron this is a place soon forgotten. Taliban unlike Al-Q has regional interests. So they get back in a year, if then. WE are nearly gone there. Will they even be trusted with much? Our POW is back. Betting Obama is careful to let the facts dictate whether he is guilty of anything or not. This is an easy play. He got the guy out, now if the guy is proved to need more punishment, Obama is free to ignore. Nothing will come of the 30 day thing. Prisoner exchange, and no time. No one will care. How will Repubs keep from distracting from Benghazi? So, all in all, Obama makes 3 point shot, and got fouled, makes additional points. Score! "Trumpsplain (def.) explaining absolute nonsense said by TRUMP. |

They are "enemy combatents", jailed for eternity for no crime based on the "war on terror". Name another country where its government is free to fly planers around the world, pick up people, name them enemy combatents, fly them to another country, torture them, and keep them in perpetuity without proving wrongdoing, without a named war proclaimed? Perhaps the last example might be the Jews of World War II. Charge them, convict them, penalize them, or let them go. Most non-Americans feel that way. The United States complains about how other countries treat their citizens and visitors yet it spies on its own citizens, flies drones over foreign territories, and steals citizens of other countries and brings them to other countries to be "tortured" (without repercussion) using loopholes in its own US law and the Geneva convention to get around its own ethics, all in the name of the "War on Terror". Obama is equally as complicit as Bush is on this one in this incredibly abhorrent behaviour. Obama promised he would do something about it, and he never did. He should take his Peace prize and mail if back to Sweden and tell them to give it to the runner-up with his sincere apologies. If he refuses to do that, then he should shove the prize up his warmongering anus. And yeah, I'm liberal. So as for the trade, who gives a crap? It was wrong to keep them at Gitmo in the first place, and two wrongs still makes a wrong. Close Gitmo and either try the prisoners under US law or let them go. |

Any nation is free to try it, can they pull it off is something else. While we have kept them, we have not done any torture.
You can't "charge them" as it is not a criminal matter. If you "charge them" then it open up a new can of worms. Saudi Arabia or some other muslim country could then "charge" me for speaking out against Islam. I don't want to see the ability to do this given under international law. They are not POWs as they were fighting under no national force. For that matter, Afghanistan was (and kind of still is) a country in name only. Depending on where we drop them they might actually get tortured if the right people get hold of them. No win for anyone.
That peace prize was the joke of the decade, shows that the prize is a meaningless left-wing award. War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength |

Instead, the stink coming from this WH just went up about 4 notches. LOL! If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

3 point shot? The best it could be would be an extra point; yet he has no touchdowns of late. He committed a foul on the play...he may even have to try again for the point. Republicans can do more than one thing at at time and the scandals of this Presidency are growing. If the President would stop stepping in it, he'd probably keep his free pass from the press. He can't do it. He is incapable of staying out of controversy. |

This "Peace Prize" transcends even the normal left-leaning tilt of the prize. His actual accomplishments at that time on the international level were minimal, at best. He was undeserving, to say the least. |

Yes, but as a liberal he gets a trophy for participating. War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength |
