Had some east coast city/suburb friends that wanted to get away from it all.
Moved to Northern Idaho, bought land near Sand Point ID.
They were disappointed at the lack of wild animals on their land.
They decided to put out some meat to attract wild animals on their land.
Neighbors several miles away heard about this and immediately drove over to talk some sense into my friends.
You don't want wild animals on your land such as bears, very unpredictable.

Another friend moved out there as well and I few out for a visit and camped on their land.
Just a tent outside their small trailer.
Buddy gave a gun for protection at night in the tent. Huckleberry season was late so a lot of hungry bears about.
Talking to some people in town and letting them know I was sleeping in a tent with a gun.
One guy joked, "don't need a gun, just a knife. As the bear comes into tent, you take that knife, cut the tent and get out of there :-) "

Many predators are not bothered by the screams of their victims. Possibly there is some advantage to keeping life support going and the meat fresh?

There are videos you can find of wolves eating their victims alive, screaming pitifully all the way. I decline to search for them and I'd have to wonder about anybody who would want to watch them.

Signaling his intent to win over Republican caucus voters in Iowa, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie vetoed a bill that would have banned the use of confining pregnant pigs in crates so small they can’t even turn around.

No missing the fact that the biggest (most likely) candidate has no sympathy for pigs.

Also, again, Republicans - mean?

Pigs are about as smart as dogs.

It is not just a matter of humane treatment but allowing the animal to escape its feces. Given sufficient space pigs actually prefer a clean environment and will keep themselves clean and generally parasite free. Large scale confinement farms force intense breeding particularly since breeding is left to farmers contracted to large operators. That way laws are not enforced against the large operators because it would in reality be a proceeding against all the local farmers.

Fake! Fake!

Everybody knows there is this big long bolt of light that shoots out and zaps in a long burst, not some invisible little pop!
