Bob, I'm not talking about hitting a green light or finding a good parking spot. .

So what are you talking about
that happens in your life because
of your belief in god that doesn't
happen in my life as an atheist.

You are hung up with your vending machine image of God and that prayer are the quarters we use to get what you want.

Matthew 7:7

"Ask and it will be given to you"

We've already discussed this into
the ground. Jesus says he's a
vending machine, FrG says we
don't know how to read it. I
think it's pretty clear from all
'just ask and it's yours' passages
that Jesus meant exactly that.

I think I have been pretty unequivocal in my opinion that if you can't prove it scientifically, then it is just a fantasy and it isn't real.

Cook up all the hypothesis you want, rationalize it six ways from Sunday, make a rationally sounding but ultimately hollow logical argument and it all amounts to the same thing: nothing.

With that, I am out, until the next ridiculous claim that I can't seem to manage to ignore no matter how much I want to.

If you are looking for a rationally sounding but ultimately hallow logic argument look no further than what you posit above. It is self-defeating. How can you prove scientifically that any opinion that is not scientifically proven is a fantasy? Your arguement fails it's own test.

Outside of that it limits all opinions to things that can be quantified, examined, and tested. Think about what you could never have an opinion on?

Add to this it is entirely impractical and impossible to live according to this opinion.

If that was the whole Bible and Tradition and Teaching of Christ you might have a point.

And an affirmative statement is also claiming that something does not exist.

But we non believers don't care. We
have no agenda we're pushing, we
aren't trying to convert anybody
into atheism. It's our personal
belief for our personal way of
living.

Your main job outside of caring
for the flock, is converting people
to your way of thinking. To change
they're reality to your reality because
you've been told it's best for them.
It's the height of egoism and self
righteousness that god people
think they always know what's best
for everybody else.

In the past they took that attitude
to the extreme, and people died
because of this self righteous.
Thankfully all the teeth have been
removed from the Church. But
the same self righteousness
remains fully intact.

That is a colorful image but I think more that it is YOUR POV. That God provides but only if we 'believe in the machine' and go thru the motions of manipulating the proper levers. Only then is something dispensed and its value determined as divine.
