If that was the whole Bible and Tradition and Teaching of Christ you might have a point.

I know, I know. You need to understand allegory, recognize hyperbole, account for words and their usage historically, identify context...

And I fully agree. But this is college level activity, both because you first need elementary knowledge to begin to engage in these practices, and because you need time for your brain to mature to enable its understanding. Given that, doesn't it make one wonder why there's such a push to put this unto children?

Rhetorical, but go ahead anyway.
Be bold and risk defeat, or be cautious and encourage it.

Bob, I'm not talking about hitting a green light or finding a good parking spot. .

So what are you talking about
that happens in your life because
of your belief in god that doesn't
happen in my life as an atheist.

Been 3 days and all I hear is crickets.
You've answered other posts, why
not this one. Surely you can think
of one thing in you life that happens
because of god, that doesn't happen
in mine.

Sorry Bob for not responding sooner. I have a personal, intimate, life giving relationship with God through prayer. I have the Sacarments of the Church. I have the Bible that I believe is the Word of God to sustain me and guide me. I have a regular Church community that helps me to strive for holiness. I have a relationship with the Saints to inspire and strengthen me.

No no no, those are all personal
choices of yours. I'm talking about
every day life. How does the
universe treat you differently
because you believe in god
and I don't. You made the
comment about red lights
and parking spaces. If you
don't get those, like my sister
in law thinks she does, what
happens to you that's different
than me.

God loves us both the same and besides the different choices and consequences you and I make based on our beliefs, I don't think I find any more primo parking spots or win any raffles more than you.

So god doesn't really 'do' anything
in your life, you do it all and give
him credit. Does that sum it up?

Not even close! God is everything and does everything for me! What He does for me I wouldn't trade for what you consider things He could "do" or a front row parking spot everywhere I go.

Ultimately it only matters what I "do" for God not what God does for me.

What does god do for you
that doesn't happen to an
atheist. This is not a hard
question.

Xtions get married and divorced,
win lotteries, commit crimes and
go to jail, get fired, get hired,
have good kids and bad kids,
declare bankruptcy, have car
accidents, see shrinks, get
diseases, live short live and
long lives.

We atheists see the exact same
things happening to Xtions
that happen to us. The difference
being they thank god for the
good, and blame the devil
for the bad. Atheists just accept
life for what it is.

You can't name anything that
you 'get' from believing in god
that that a non believer also
doesn't have. You hear people
gush and cry about how wonderful
'walking with the lord' is, but
as you know them better, they
have all the same problems
you do. Jesus belief seems to
be an imaginary crutch to
lean on to make people feel
less hopeless about things
out of their control. A placebo,
if you will. And we all know in
blind studies placebo's are
often just as effective as
real treatment.

I think I mentioned already a personal relationship with the Lord through prayer, the Sacraments, the Bible, a Church family. Then to my surprise you said none of that counted. You seem to want to hear about some advantage in being a Christian, some perks maybe? Well Jesus didn't have the best marketing for folks that ask that question. His slogan is, "take up your cross and follow me." Jesus doesn't promise anyone a tiptoe through the tulips kind of life, I guess you shouldn't expect it when you love a crucfied and Resurrected Savior. Jesus said we are in the world just like anyone else (experiencing the same joys and struggles) but we are not of the world. That might be the biggest difference.
