I think I mentioned already a personal relationship with the Lord through prayer, the Sacraments, the Bible, a Church family. Then to my surprise you said none of that counted. .

How could they count, they are
all personal choices made by
you and not some god. You
seem to be confused about what
god does for you and what
you do for god.

So far you haven't named one
thing god does for you that
doesn't happen in my life also.
All you have is a personally
chosen lifestyle that has nothing
to do with god's personal
involvement. Just like me!!

We both know study after study
since the late 19th century has
shown prayer has no effect on
the healing of sick people in
the hospital. Some studies
cost millions and took years
to do. No difference in the
survival rate of the prayed
for and the not prayed for.

So you're saying the only
thing in your life that's
different than mine is, you
have a prayer life and I
don't? A prayer life, according
to voluminous research,
is just you talking to yourself?
Wow.

At least my sister in law gets
green lights and good parking
spaces and raises at work and
healthy grand kids because of
her constant praying. She gets
lots of bang for her bucks in the
collection plate.

For the umpteenth time prayer is not about getting anything material! Do you think God is Santa? No wonder you have such a visceral reaction to religion. Prayer is about a loving relationship with God and that is the center of my life and the greatest blessing! That is what you don't have, but you could easily have it! Just be prepared that it doesn't mean you'll get all green lights and great parking spots. In fact it means you will have to deny yourself, take up your cross, and love God and others as Jesus shows us.

You're doing that, not some god.
You're doing all of it. You're
the one praying, god never
contacts you about anything.
How could he, there is no god.

Your religion is your hobby,
you get something from it
so you keep doing it. My
sister in law pretends god
does things for her all day
long, and it makes her happy.

'Gods love' has to be most
over used oxymoron in history.
Where is it, certainly not in
the Bible anywhere. All we see
there is a petty, childish and
vindictive god. Is gods love
with the little kids dying by
the hour in Africa of AIDS and
mosquito borne disease or
starvation? Nope, not there
either. Gods love is obviously
only in the imagination of his
followers.

You really have no idea. Trust me you could not be more wrong, and you have been wrong plenty of times. Just enjoy your day and leave it be, you have no idea what you are talking about.

UhHuh. What's becoming obvious, thru your
own words is, like everything else, you get
out of Xtionity exactly what you put into it.
And not a whit more. Go to church on Sunday
and pray, and get a little satisfaction that day.
Do it every day, wrap yourself up in it, and
you'll get satisfaction on a greater level.

But a god isn't doing anything here, you're
doing all the work. You can get the same
satisfaction thru any hobby you love. I know
a guy who collects old bottles. He spends
all his spare time at it, that's his religion.
It gives his life meaning and purpose and
satisfaction. No god needed

Your religion is no different. My friend loves
it so much he actually tries to convert others
to the hobby. Imagine that..
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

That's exactly what you're
saying, you get out of it
exactly what you put into
it. Right? Just like everything
else in life. You get what
you expect to get. For you
it's spiritual, for my wife's
family it's green lights and
parking spaces.

I can get all of that without
any of the falderal of god
worship.

falderal:

absurdity, baloney, bunk, garbage, gibberish, gobbledygook, lunacy, nonsense, stupidity, twaddle, craziness.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

How do you get a personal, life giving, inspirational, and grace filled relationship through prayer to God when you don't even believe in God nor are interested in attempting to see if He is real?
