So then why do you answer all of these posts with anything but "yes" or "no" - why did Jesus answer questions from his disciples without merely saying "yes" or "no" |

You mean they weren't standing on the shore waving at the slave ships, waiting to be picked up? My point was, being a slave was not the hell on earth some portray it to be. Most were treated like part of the family, not like dogs in a kennel as some would have us believe. It wasn't great, but neither was it horribly awful. A lot of slaves stayed on the plantations and worked for money after the war, why wouldn't they.
Good grief. The POINT is, half the 10 commandments are self serving or pointless. Four of them are about the god who supposedly wrote them and one is about honoring mom and dad, something 99% of people do anyway. The other five are about moral issues. Not a practical one there. Like: Your children shall attend school. You shall not keep slaves. Women should not prostitute themselves. The list is endless of what should have been there. Like I said, these weren't issues in that day and god is only as smart as those that invent him. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Contraception wasn't around yet but it sounds like you want God to warn the people millennia before it's invention about its dangers? Some of your problem might be lessened if you remember this is why Jesus established a Church to be guided by the Holy Spirit. “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |

Once again: You'd have managed better If you'd had it planned Now why'd you choose such a backward time And such a strange land? If you'd come today You could have reached a whole nation Israel in 4 BC Had no mass communication |

Jesus Christ Superstar, I loved the movie. It's true, the Jewish god planned it very poorly. If Jesus wasn't coming back for 2000 years+, why not have him be born about 1900. That way you bypass all the ignorant jerks in the early church, no Crusades, no Inquisitions, no any of that. Mass communication in an enlightened era. A real screw up by the guy upstairs. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |
