A good and effective doge of the question. You know sometimes the roof salesman is right and you need a new roof.

"The concept of sin comes from the bible.
Christianity offers to solve a problem of its
own making! Would you be thankful to a person
who cut you with a knife in order to sell you a
bandage?"

[Dan Barker, Losing Faith in Faith]

I love this quote because it's so true. The
people that invent the problem, the Jews,
invent the answer, a Jewish savior. Two
negatives never make a positive, however.
Being saved from something that doesn't
exist is the biggest joke ever played on
humanity. People are so gullible you can
convince them of almost anything if you
have a good story.

The concept of sin predates the Bible or Christianity. Nobody made this concept up. It is part of the nature of humanity. It is why we struggle to do what we know is right and why the world has so much injustice, pain, hurt, sorrow, and death in it. Do you really doubt this?

All concepts are made up, that's what a
concept is.

con·cept
ˈkänˌsept/
an abstract idea; a general notion.

When you start treating concepts as hard
facts, you're well down the road to creating
a world that doesn't exist outside of your
head. Very dangerous to those around you,
as the bloody history of Christianity has
shown.

The fact that there is much pain, hurt, sadness, and death in the world is a fact. The cause of this suffering is sin, that is also a fact. Unless of course you have another suggestion as to why?

There is zero evidence pointing to that.
If it's a fact, it would be readily apparent,
and it's not even on the roster of possibilities.
Unfortunately for the Church, this is no
longer the 14th century, when the world
had it's head stuck up it's collective bum..

How do you get the idea that all concepts are made up or false from the definition you give? A abstract idea or general notion can be very true. In fact the word concept derives from the Latin word for conceive. It gives a sense that a concept is an abstract idea you conceive from observing the facts around you. In this sense sin, which does not come from the Bible or Christianity, is a true concept that come from observing the facts of life.

Because abstract ideas are never factual.
One is the opposite of the other. An abstract
idea can become a fact, but then it's not
an abstract idea anymore. When sin becomes
a fact, you let me know.

Were the riots in Baltimore an abstract idea? Sin is the most concrete reality you can get. Do you deny the fact that the world and our lives are touched by struggle, mistakes, and difficulties? It seems like the only abstract thought here is your claim that sin isn't real.

Sure it is.. (rolls eyes)

Never mind, this conversation is going
nowhere. You need sin so you believe
it's real. I don't. Let's leave it there..

I don't need sin, nobody needs sin. I believe it's real because I have eyes to see and ears to hear. As I've said it is the only explanation as to why there is such disorder, destruction, and death in the world. I really don't think this is too hard to grasp or recognize. I know people are nice and smile to you a lot, but do you deny the reality that people are all going through struggles and suffering in their lives? Do you not see that society, as it always has been, is far from perfect? The only answer is sin.
