Pardon John Kiriakou. He was the whistleblower that brought forth to the public the torture that the CIA was doing to captured terrorists. He was a CIA operative and ended up serving a few years in prison for disclosing the torture.
At my age a Life In Prison sentence is not much of a deterrent.

To all those that gave arguments in favor of pardons, I am specifically against the current system, where the majority are given out AFTER there is no political force that can be applied to the pardoner. I mean, seriously, if Biden actually thought these 1500 criminals deserved pardon, did he magically decide that AFTER the election results were in? How about pardoning those who you feel are deserving WHEN YOU BECOME AWARE that they deserve pardon?

Anyone who doesn’t know the answer is an ostrich. Biden was afraid of having to defend the pardons, and was afraid of the political backlash that would have happened had he done so pre election. Nothing says more about you than leaving 1500 people in jail waiting for an election to be over…. (Same for ANY end of term only pardons for any President)

We have a system, called ‘appeals’, that is in place to try and overturn a conviction. Why didn’t those work?

As far as the ‘3 strikes you’re out’ long sentences…. GOOD! You commit a crime, get arrested, convicted, jail time. Release. Commit a crime. Arrested. Convicted. Jail time. Released.
Commit ANOTHER crime. I’m supposed to feel sorry that society wants to lock you up for a very long time?

No, you're supposed to be reasonable depending on the crimes. I'll gladly argue a person shoplifting over and over needs more than a slap on the hand, but also doesn't need 10 years in jail for 3 low value items on separate occasions. Trump would only be brave with Jan 6 pardons if he did them right before the 2 year election mid-term

I have to wonder whether Uncle Joe (Biden, not Stalin) would have strolled down Pardon Road like he is now had he not been stabbed in the back by the Democratic party and forced not to run again.

Seems to me he's disenchanted with politics now and giving us the collective middle finger...not that his belief is without merit.

If he didn't win reelection, he'd by strolling down Pardon Road. If he won reelection, he'd still be taking the same stroll.

Dunno about that; had he been reelected there would be no need to pardon anybody other than his son, right?

Here’s where we disagree. The shoplifter, caught and convicted for the 3rd time, is a career criminal. You can fool yourself into thinking that he won’t continue to shoplift, and likely commit other crimes as well. I’d surmise that a 3 time convicted shoplifter shoplifts every day they are not in jail.

As far as Trump pardoning the Jan 6 treasonists (is that a word?), Trump is not hiding behind the end of term BS that Biden did. I abhor the idea of those pardons, but it is ABSOLUTELY NOT an indicator of Trump not being ‘brave’ due to the timing. Frankly, it’s the opposite.

Joe isn't the first President to issue pardons during his last days/weeks in office. Did Dr. SooPoo voice his objections during those as well?

Had he been reelected, he can issue pardons without political consequences.

I don’t know if I’ve ‘voiced’ my objections, but I’ve always been against pardons. I’m not saying there has never been a pardon I’ve been happy about, I just can’t think of one right now. It’s just so dirty. Ignore those in jail you think shouldn’t be there for your 4 year term, then open those jailhouse doors….
