I am not sure how this disproves that Hamas is the elected gov of Gaza? I didn't even think this would be a controversial point.

It’s not disputed. The elected government of Gaza, Hamas, has a stated goal of the destruction of the state Israel. Terapined showing that many Israeli’s want the hostages back at any cost is not surprising. It’s not that they care about the murderous Palestinians, who just put bullets in the heads of 6 captive civilians. It’s just that they are thinking that they would do anything to get the remaining hostages home. They do not care of the long term consequences of not finishing the eradication of Hamas.
I can understand both sides.

I am surprised that Israel hasn’t agreed to disfavorable terms to get the hostages freed. And finding (or making up) some loophole later on if it feels necessary to re engage with Hamas.

If Hamas is eradicated, what next? Nature abhors a vacuum. Getting rid of Hamas will create a vacuum in Gaza, just like the vacuum that allowed Hamas to take power in the first place.

Don't get me wrong: The only persons fully responsible for killing the hostages is Hamas themselves, but I can't help but wonder if nobody truly wants to win the peace.

Sadly, I agree with you. It’s hard to imagine that there will ever be Gazans that will want to live in peace with neighboring Israelis. I might have said that about Egypt in the 1960’s, and been proven wrong. Or Germany/USA or Japan/USA in the 1940’s.

But I truly find it hard to believe that the Muslim dominated states surrounding Israel will ever truly accept a Jewish dominated Israel.

I can understand both sides to a degree, but there will be no brining the remaining hostages home on Hamas terms. There will be liberation or death, that is just how it is. Hamas is desperate and will remove any remaining hostages before pulling from any land. I do not think you can save the remaining hostages while removing Hamas in totality, which is also what they want you to feel.

But, my reply was a statement I made about Hamas being the elected government of Gaza, and I am not sure how a reply of the Israeli prime minister in front a mushroom cloud contradicts this?

Murdered

American activist shot dead by Israeli forces at West Bank protest, eyewitnesses say

“There were two volunteers sitting behind a dumpster and they fired one shot at the dumpster. It hit a metal plane. And then there was another shot and they shot – they shot her in the head.”

'Israeli activist Jonathan Pollak, who was taking part in Friday’s protest, said Israeli soldiers fired tear gas and live ammunition at the peaceful demonstration, forcing protesters to retreat. After a 20-minute lull, Pollak said he noticed an Israeli soldier aiming his rifle and heard shots.'

Not saying it is smart. Or even a reasonable way to proceed. But it is amazing that Israel could accomplish this.

Why didn't we do that in the 1990's? We could have eliminated a lot of drug dealers.

I imagine the price offered for bulk purchase of those pagers was "too good to be true" as the warning goes. I don't know if they were sold in a bulk purchase but it would be the easiest way to get it specifically to Hezbollah.
