I watch a lot of the Brit TV productions that are brought over to the US by PBS. It suggests there is still quite an interest in the occult [not witches solely] in the UK compared to here. In one of their crime dramas there is always going to be an episode sooner or later with the occult. Typically it will open with candles all around and people in a circle, chanting, signs and symbols all around ... the audience is expected to deeply disapprove of the whole business, and sure enough someone is murdered. In the current Van der Valk* being shown, this is what we have exactly.

In US TV today, it's not seen so much and I would expect the emphasis to be on how we shouldn't judge people for any interest or beliefs in such things. Any murder would be perpetrated by an intolerant outside person who strongly disapproved

That this is not the case with Brit entertainment has me wondering about it. Certainly witch hunts went on in Europe, it wasnt just in America, and in fact here it was a short one-off thing. In the UK, practicing witchcraft was still illegal until 1951 per below link

As for googling, there's not much coming up to help explain. The below was about it.

* though it's Amsterdam crime drama, this is produced in English language for British audiences ... by the ITV network, information available in Wikipedia

slow realization for me, that the below is the case

I started with betMGM over 2 years ago and was new to sports betting, but I checked it out and found that they didn't mess with the payout on regular parlays, and assumed SGPs were the same. Learning curve!

Probably will blog about it some day at WoV

>>>

Do same game parlays pay less?

What Are Same Game Parlays? Here's SGPs Explained
Now, with some same-game parlays, sportsbooks make sure to maintain their edge by shortening the parlay payout even further. And in some cases, sportsbooks will adjust the total and/or spread to a slightly unfavorable number, e.g., Under 52 points instead of Under 54, or -7.5 instead of -6.5.

I don't like keeping decaffeinated coffee in the house for guests who ask for it, it gets old. Might try ordering this

>>>

does coffee with chicory have less caffeine?

Chicory root is naturally caffeine-free, so it makes an excellent coffee substitute if you're looking to reduce your caffeine intake. Some people add chicory root to hot water for a completely caffeine-free beverage, while others mix it into a small amount of regular coffee to enjoy a lower caffeine beverage.

You can buy decaf in those sealed one cup plastic packages. It should last a long time. You don't need to expose a whole container to make a cup or two.

That 'witch' program I watched seemed to suggest the Pilgrims did not use the word 'warlock' for 'male witch' . Perhaps it was at first more of a Scottish thing

>>>

The most commonly accepted etymology derives warlock from the Old English wǣrloga, which meant "breaker of oaths" or "deceiver". The term came to apply specially to the devil around 1000.

Etymology and terminology The term came to apply specially to the devil around 1000. In early modern Scots, the word came to refer to the male equivalent of a "witch" (which can be male or female, but has historically been used predominantly for females).
