As part of his American Families Plan, unrealized capital gains over $1 million would be taxed at death. Under the current law, you don’t pay capital-gains taxes on taxable investments, if you don’t sell them. Your heirs don’t have to pay the tax either. The value of the inherited asset gets reset at its current value. When the heirs sell the inherited asset, they pay capital-gains on profits above the reset value. Not the original cost. Biden intends to change that, and force heirs to pay unrealized capital gains on the original investment, which will force them to sell their inherited farms, homes, stocks, bonds and any other inherited taxable investments. |

Yawn This is all much ado about nothing What you think Biden wants or intends don't mean jack Has any of this passed the Manchin test Of course not It's a conservative fantasy that Biden can pass anything he wants Reality Manchin is in charge and no way he let's this Tanko fantasy to pass The economy is doing fine and that drives conservatives crazy because it's the benchmark of evaluating any Presidency.
