There are so many! I think MI making it illegal to go from one private house to another is the worst.

Thanks for being specific. I think the courts would disagree with you. I'm not saying it is reasonable, nor the correct way to handle the pandemic. But I think it is within the rights of the executive.
The populace has two lawful recourses. They can challenge the constitutionality in court. And if that fails, enough citizens can vote the person out next election.

Pretty much the same procedure you'd need to follow with any law you don't believe in.

Any Michigander who does not like the way their Governor uses her authority has the two options I mentioned, as well as a third. They can move to a state with a government more suited to their views.

Sweden had no quarantine or stay at home orders and now the country is under severe criticism for not having a quarantine.
Sweden's death rate is well below most European countries, but it is very high for a Nordic, German, Baltic or an East European country.

You'll inherently have conflicts about when you lift quarantine orders.

"Deaths/Million pop"
445 Belgium
419 Spain
376 Italy
286 France
215 Britain
202 Netherlands
153 Switzerland
139 Sweden

471 Belgium +26
441 Spain +22
384 Italy +8
296 France +10
228 Britain +13
210 Netherlands +8
158 Switzerland +5
150 Sweden +11
118 USA

60 Denmark
54 Germany
30 Norway
16 Finland

Sweden is now increasing their deaths per million people at a rate commensurate with the primary infected countries in Europe. It is way above Germany, Norway, Denmark, and Finland.

The example is bound to affect American policy decisions.

As it should.

Like much of American history with have the advantage of getting late to the party so to speak so we can learn from the failures and successes of European and Asian countries and compare policies.

It is no secret that countries with strict shelter in place policies where they are actually arresting people have a slower spread, of course people will argue that this infringes on their liberties to walk outside or whatever...

I wonder if number of deaths will be revised when this is all over
The sudden turn for the worse in some patients is scary.
So many infected are untested because if they have the symptoms, instructions are to quarantine at home and deal with it until the situation becomes dire. Some of these are dying at home and not counted in the numbers.

Mexican peso has plummeted -16.38% to the USD in the last month, while the Swedish Crown has lost only -4.30%

It will be interesting if Sweden ends up with the strongest European economy

No you wouldn't. Nobody who wants anarchy would ever survive in an anarchist society.

Ironically the people who you call militant communists would probably thrive the best with no government because we know how to form organizations that protect ourselves and expand our power (hypothetical).

I know the second comment was not directed at me, but I don't defend sanctuary cities or rogue sheriffs. All people in positions of power need to follow guidance from up top or else they are not doing their duty.

If you want to not follow laws or orders, fine, but don't be a Sheriff.... And, be ready to do the time.

So obviously you support the carrier captain being fired.

I don't think the carrier captain had violated orders. It was alleged he had acted with poor judgment.

The US will bail out the peso again, imo.

He was not fired (not really a thing in the military) relieved of command of that vessel and reassigned.

It is a complex issue that is still evolving, I will trust the final investigation. All I will say on personal opinions is there is a Reason the Sec of Navy who "fired" him is now the Former Sec of Navy.

Commanders have to act in the best interest of those under their command, he made a judgment call, and will have to live with the consequences. I know in his mind he did the right thing. And, he may have, like I said there are a lot of pieces to this puzzle and new info is constantly coming out....

Earlier you said the sheriff must follow orders. Now you say maybe the captain is allowed to not follow orders but to follow his own conscience. You aren't being consistent. Which way is it?
