And I was actually wrong. I understated the number of dead by 100,000.
It's not 1.25 million people dead. It's 1.35 million!!

But of course, libbies aren't giving up their cars any time soon. They're totally cool with 1.35 million dead people from car accidents. But when 125,000 people die from coronavirus....................OMG LET'S SHUT DOWN THE COUNTRY!! NO, LET'S SHUT DOWN THE WORLD!!! 🙄

So is Shrek happy that there are 7,690 coronavirus deaths in New York City? Or is he disappointed it's not more?

I'll give you guys an update from the trenches. Friend at big NYC hospital that opened up 4 extra ICUs. As of yesterday they were able to return one of the ICUs to regular floor patients. Friend in Westchester said for two straight days more COVID patients went home than came in. So from my anecdotes they are definitely past the peak. I get Buffalo stats daily. Seems like we are on a plateau and likely to be past the peak in a day or two.

One of the pieces of bad news. In NY, since they have patients on the vents now for many weeks, there are a significant number of patients that have not enough lung damage to kill them, but enough so that they are unable to live without a ventilator. They will not be listed as COVID deaths, obviously, as they did not die. But not the way you want to live your last few years.

They got any iron lungs still around? That looks like a more comfortable option.
