Good question and I don't know the answer. I think it is expanding into empty space. It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures. ( |

I can think of a time before the BB, and I can imagine the explosion. So even before the explosion there was my thought. The last official act of any government is to loot the treasury. GW |

So God just made some empty space? What is the empty space contained in? |

Lots of things don't make any sense to you. It makes perfect sense. With so many Christians there's the odor a desperation coming from them. They want so badly for God to exist and they're so desperate for science to prove it. But it never will. You just have to accept the fact that all you have is faith. That used to be good enough, Faith was all you needed. Not anymore. There isn't a single shred of evidence that a God exists, and it drives Christians nuts. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Besides the fact that God obviously exists you continue to speak the truth about the limits of our scientific knowledge. I tell you what iff you read Mere Christianity with an open mind I am sure you would become a believer. I am very serious about that! God exists if you need and want him to. Otherwise he doesn't exist at all. The fascinating thing is, you will never see that because you were fed the Kool Aid all your life and can't see around it. I read CS Lewis decades ago, once was enough. He might be the original Xtian Apologist. His thing was god sits outside of space/time and rules the world with the morality he invented. Ridiculous. He was also an anti sex nut. He wrote MC in 1952 at the height of sexual repression in the US and GB. Where in the UK you went to prison if you were outed as Gay. Lewis was even against sex in marriage, saying it should be totally controlled and subdued. Sounds like a guy who didn't get laid much and wanted everybody to be as miserable as he was. He was a real fun guy.. Looking at pictures of him, he was no babe magnet. Has sexual repression written all over him. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

| Evenbob Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 148 Posts: 25978 | Since you brought up CS Lewis, I went and looked to see if I was the only one who can't stand him. Holy cow! Lots of people hated his work. They found his Narnia stories to be full of bigotry, sexism, and racism. Even his best friend Tolkein found the Narnia stories to be wanting: "Many, including Lewis's best friend JRR Tolkien, found them (Narnia) incoherent, sentimental and unsatisfactory. The twin taints of racism and sexism attach to them as they do to other Lewis works." Just one of the reviews of Mere Christianity: Lewis has done Christianity a disservice with his book and jeopardized the freedom of those who resist. "Mere Christianity" proves nothing and simply muddies the waters for those searching for spiritual fulfillment. Presenting a belief system for consideration is certainly a legitimate pursuit, but attempting to drive it down throats with the cudgel of intellectual process is another matter and requires extraordinary proof. The book falls well short of the mark and must therefore be challenged. That's how I felt when I read it, like Lewis was pounding it down my throat. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

So does total crap, which is mostly what the story of Xtianity is. Lewis had the habit of many of those who were converted as adults. He was insufferably smug about it. I have a brother in law like that. He was converted by his wife before they married and now he's impossible to be around. He thinks the religion gives him permission to set everybody else straight on what's wrong with their lives. And he'll tell you right to your face. He's soooo self-righteous and smug I want to punch him in the face. Instead I just avoid him. That's CS Lewis. His Narnia series has been described as "Christian arm twisting," If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

It is wrestling with truth that causes people to hate guys like C.S. Lewis. They know that he is right and they are wrong and guys like him won't leave them alone about it. It is the same hate someone addicted has for the person that points out their addiction and they should change. Once they eventually change they realize that the annoying person they hated was the one who truly loved them.
