God is necessary for there to be anything in existence. .

Only in your god world. In the real
world of science and reality god
is totally unnecessary and is a
joke. You wouldn't know real
logic if you sat on it and it took
a chunk out of your backside.
You really need to stick to preaching
to the sleepy and the brainwashed,
i.e, the people you see in the pews
every Sunday.

Bob I am only speaking in the real world of science and reality. This includes God and I am sorry your are not able to see that.

God is necessary for there to be anything in existence. Think about it for a second. Use any or all the examples I have already given. An actual infinite regress is impossible and something that comes into existence cannot come from nothing. These two truths are enough for you to realize that there must be some all-powerful non-material cause of the universe, which we commonly call God. This alone is not my understanding of God and you are welcome to disagree with me about the nature of God, is God personal, loving, intelligent, etc. However, what you can't disagree with is the logic that given that there are contingent material things that exist in time and are moving therefore there must be a cause of these things that is a supernatural non contingent reality that is outside of time and space. There is no other option, at least not that I have heard. You are welcome to present another explanation. Again at this level the discussion is not about religion at all. It is simply philosophical truth, science, and logic.

Padre - once again you state something cannot come from nothing yet you have no explanation for how God came into existence

All things that come into existence need a cause. God did not come into existence. God is the neccessary supernatural reality outside of time and space that IS the cause.

HaHa, no it doesn't. The world of
science doesn't cover the supernatural.
Win Randi's million bucks and get
back to us on that. You WANT it
to be included in science, you
DREAM about it, you desperately
NEED it to be true. Alas, it's not.

You think, you hope, you make it up
as you go along and then believe
your own made up stories. Stop it.

You secretly sometimes say some very true and important things. I couldn't agree with you more - science does not cover the supernatural. Yet they do cover the expanding universe, background cosmic radiation, the laws of thermodynamics, the intelligibility of the known world. This is all evidence that the universe has a beginning and a creator. Do you really not see this? Even if you go against the clear evidence of science and posit that the universe has always existed then you still have to have a supernatural God who sustains all things in existence and is the first mover. It is unavoidable and no matter how much you try to ignore, ridicule, put your fingers in your ears and call me names, the fact remains there is a God.

Padre - the universe is rapidly expanding at a rate of approximately 68 to 82 kilometers per second per megaparsec

Is the universe expanding into God? Another universe created by God?

Stephen Hawking's Final Book Says There's 'No Possibility' of God in Our Universe

"We have finally found something that doesn’t have a cause, because there was no time for a cause to exist in," Hawking wrote. "For me this means that there is no possibility of a creator, because there is no time for a creator to have existed in."

Bob this quote was already used and showed to not make any sense.
