Sorry if you took that the wrong way. I did not mean to imply that you called me that. I meant in general people calling it "redneck" when a person does not accept someone or something that is way out of the normal. Whatever anyone calls me, I have been called worse I assure you. As to labels, I am probably conservative-libertarian. We could make a thread on what "libertarian" means but I do find them leaning left or right. Anyways, I took no offense and hope you did not from my post and lets all move on.

There is no sin.

But it's a useful metaphorical figure.

There are bad acts and evil acts. But none imperil one's soul in the afterlife regarding the judgment of some deity because: 1) there is no immortal soul (though there is a soul), 2) there is no afterlife, and 3) there are no deities.

Sin is one of the most obvious realities and to doubt it or call it a metaphorical figure boggles the mind.

How can you believe in your heart of hearts that evil acts carry no consequences to them? In not believing in an immortal soul, an afterlife, or in God what you do believe in is eternal injustice and that hate or evil can have the last word. Excuse me while I throw up.

I don't believe that. If I were a Christian I would believe it.

A Christian can escape all consequences. He can go out and kill someone, then repent. Done. he doesn't have to confess to the friends and family of the victim, or turn himself over to the cops. He just has to beg a non-existent entity for forgiveness. No consequences if he doesn't get caught.

I don't have that easy way out. I wouldn't kill anyone, but if I were to do something bad to someone, my conscience would trouble me. If I wanted to atone for it, I'd have to beg an actual person for their forgiveness, and provide them with some form of restitution.
