Multiple covers of classic songs

Multiple covers in the same video.

Mostly unknown studio musicians doing covers of the classic James Bond theme for each iteration of the Bond franchise.

My fave Dylan song. If you've ever left a bad
relationship, this song covers every aspect of
it. The last line is the best and it's scathing:

'You kinda just wasted my precious time, but
don't think twice, it's all right.'

You don't write a song like this unless you've
been there a few times.

Ah yes, but that's only part of it in my opinion.

The whole beginning, pretty much most of the song, is negative. First it starts right off with an imminent break up. "Ain't no use in calling out my name, gal". It's done, it's over. And come tomorrow (When the rooster crows at the break of dawn), I'm outta here (Look out your window and I'll be gone).

Second verse is later. He's "walking down that old lonesome road, gal, where's I'm bound, I can't tell". But even still there's the hurt (Goodbye's too good a word, gal). Then he hit's them with the zinger, "You just sort of wasted my precious time, but
don't think twice, it's all right".

But then comes the "whoa" moment. There "Ain't no use in turning on the light". Again, just reconfirming that everything is done and over. And then, which anyone who's ever been through a breakup can relate to, he nails it. "Still I wish there was something you could do or say, to make me change my mind and stay". Ain't a single person out there who doesn't know what that feels like, and that's what sets it apart for me.

In a lot of way, it reminds me of what you say about Hemingway. Even Ness' rockabilly version doesn't scream at you, Dolly's heavily produced version doesn't drown you in it. Just easy words, in a simple structure, to knock home one hell of an emotion.

He's saying don't bother using charm on me, like
you ever did anyway. 'The light I never knowed'.
I did all the work in this relationship, and even
if you did try and charm me, it's too late, I'm
on the dark side of the road now, it won't work.

Then he nails it with:

'I ain't a-saying you treated me unkind
You could have done better but I don't mind'

I'm not saying you were a bitch, but at least
you could have tried. Thanks a lot for wasting
my precious time..

Nobody does Dylan like Dylan. He has a way
of making it poetry, by understating everything.

I'll carry on, even if it's not as popular and you get tired of me always mentioning it =p

Legend of Zelda! There is just no way to do this song poorly. Could be the original 8 bit tune that set it all off...



It can be played on just one instrument and still catch every bit of its essence.



You can get a buddy and really set of something beautiful.



Or even catch it with this complete insane, no-touch noisemaking thingy.



Someday I'll be sharing music with my son, and classical will be a part of that. An one day he'll wonder if they still make it today, and I'll tell him it's only gotten better. This song will be my proof of that statement.

"Don't think twice". Learned to play/sing that as a teen folkie. Masterpiece of a song.

If I were doing youtube retrievals, I would mention "The First Time (ever I saw your face)"...at least 3 stand out, PP&M, Roberta Flack, and some young thing in the last 5 years.

Also, "Proud Mary", both the CCR and Ike/Tina versions, are amazing.

I just don't get the love of Bob Dylan. Never could stand his voice or find his song writing that appealing.

Oh well, it's okay, you can dismiss my musical tastes now ;)

I still don't understand a lot of Brit
humor, like men dressing up as
women. Dylan is an American icon,
he's a folksinger. More has been
written about his music and what
it means than any other modern
artist.
