Like New York, the vast majority of Californians are liberal Democrats. And like New York, they are heavily concentrated in the large metropolitan areas. If you leave the big cities (Cal has lots of them!) the rest of the state is mostly conservative. So 'lots' can be misleading. There are way more conservatives in California than Utah, but by percentage of population.... no.... |

And think of ALL those conservatives in rural California, and rural New York, that are being disenfranchised by the Electoral College. |

A good thing fewer are going. The loan balances will take longer to level off I think due to both tuition increase and lag effect. Seems the really buried ones are those who took often useless advanced degrees. The President is a fink. |

The electoral college preserves the rights of people in rural areas from being drowned out by metro areas. |

You know, I do think about it that way. I know that my vote for President or Senator is totally meaningless. But I accept the concept of the Electoral College over my personal needs to feel my vote 'counts'. My vote does count in my vote for Congressman, as well as for my local State Assemblyman and State Senator. I'm in a 50-50 district for State Assembly, which just flipped last election to a Democrat. Her husband is a basketball buddy of mine! My State Senate district is one of those gerrymandered ones that is solidly Republican. |
