There will be a few wealthy Iranians, but far FAR more in abject poverty.

Their currency is pretty well worthless, so no doubt a bit of foreign currency is desirable, but the man in the street has nothing to buy foreign currency with.

Gotta wonder what those Persians really have left: they used to be doing quite well.

During the latter stages of the disco era it seemed that Portland was over run with rich Iranian students attending Portland State University, most of the men driving Pontiac Firebirds with the screaming firebird on the hood.

U.S. Marines are now boarding enemy ships in the gulf. Sure, not boots on the ground yet, but it is certainly an increase in escalation.

I went to college in the late 1970s
Our senior resident on our Dorm floor was Iranian
I got to be good friends with him. Cool guy that was in charge of the dorm floor
I didn't find him or his Iranian friends arrogant pricks
Quite the opposite
Once you learn to meet and make friends with people of different cultures
You realize people are overall the same

The fact that there has been 8 days of hammering regions that could oppose an invasion of the islands seems to imply there is more in the works than just bombing the shore area.

Ballistic misses and Iranian drones can still reach the Strait. I think it’s going to take more than a takeover of the coastline if that happens.
