For private strikes, probably not. If the police strike I think he will support the City (employer.) (And, yes I am aware NY police are not allowed to strike, NYPD has a lot of unofficial ways to strike through their union like organizing mass sick calls.) If there are other government agency strikes, I don't know, I don't think he would want public transit disrupted, so he would probably oppose that for example. |

He'll support the employers about as often you and MAGA/GOP will support employees... |

I’ve negotiated with employees for decades. How many do you want me to have contact you to tell you which doctor they liked dealing with most during their careers? But your point is valid. So is Gandler’s. Politicians mostly support striking workers…. except when they are government employees! |

You are so pro-employee that you don't think certain wage levels deserve access to affordable healthcare, or safe workplaces, or a living wage. You are walking, unprincipled contradiction. |

Never a contradiction. I’ll take on your ‘living wage’ comment. I want all employees to gain the skills, or work ethic, or entrepreneurial nature, to work for what you call a living wage. I want no government agency/law to force any employer to pay an artificial minimum wage. I do not believe by owning a business YOU should be responsible for supporting ANYONE. If the wages you offer are not enough for any employee, then THAT EMPLOYEE SHOULD NOT WORK FOR YOU! What the hay, I’ll tackle ‘affordable healthcare’. There were MANY ‘lowly paid’ hospital employees that worked at my hospital BECAUSE they got ‘healthcare’ (I think you mean employer paid for health insurance) as a benefit. They INTELLIGENTLY took a $20 an hour job with bennies instead of a comparable $25 an hour job without. You want ‘affordable healthcare’? Get a job that provides it! I’ll bet you $$ that Geno’s job provides it to you, and if they said they no longer would, you’d get a NEW JOB. As far as ‘safe workplaces’, I’m for safe workplaces. The exact level of government regulation is complex. I’ve personally seen many examples of costly rules that do absolutely nothing to improve safety. |

If an employer can't afford to pay an employee a minimum wage, that's a business that has neither earned not deserve to stay in business. So what wage level are working Americans not entitled for affordable healthcare? Where is the SooPoo Too Poor for Healthcare cut off income level? You say you are for safe workplaces, but you are against unions whose hard fought negotiations made them possible AND you-by your own statements-are against workplace safety rules. I've personally seen many examples of costly rules that prevent even more costly workplace injuries. Safe workplaces is a nice thing. And nice things cost money. |

Terrible idea. Your job ends (they go out of business), maybe you're 50 and don't have the same health risks. Why should a new employer hire you with the added costs? "Trumpsplain (def.) explaining absolute nonsense said by TRUMP. |

Why did your employer incur those added costs for you? Because you were WORTH IT to them. Your job ends? Get a new job? If your job ends do you expect free or subsidized housing? Free or subsidized food? Free or subsidized gasoline? Free or subsidized healthcare? Seems like you DO expect free or subsidized healthcare for some reason? I am IN FAVOR of the Cobra laws that allow you to continue your present health insurance until you get that new job that has health insurance! |

If you don't support a bottom limit to minimum wage, your ideas don't make all people enough money to do it through their salary. Or MDs can just be government workers and all work at government pay. "Trumpsplain (def.) explaining absolute nonsense said by TRUMP. |

That’s me! The last decade + of my career I was a government worker at government pay! I evaluated the total package of salary/benefits/working conditions/lifestyle and took the government job that on salary alone paid less than other local private jobs. What were the two biggest factors? Lifetime health insurance and a defined benefit pension! As I’ve said before, there were LOTS of workers that stayed at my hospital for lower wages BECAUSE they were SMART enough to figure in how much the benefits were worth. I guess technically I was one of them! And I always want to remind our listening audience, that not having health insurance does not mean you don’t get healthcare. No one was turned away from our ER for not having insurance. Our clinics took everyone, and had a ‘Medicaid sign up team’ for those without insurance. I’ve said this before. If we were starting from scratch, it makes sense as a concept to have free healthcare for all, like we have free schools, free police services, free firemen…. (Free means paid for by taxes). But my experience dealing with Medicaid (the worst), Medicare (second worst), and Workers comp/no fault (third worst) leads me to believe it will be a mess if we transition to ‘free healthcare for all’. |
