Not quite the whole story. My AI assistant told me, as an example, in 2024, Biden’s last year in office, COMBINED voluntary and involuntary deportations of illegal aliens was around 800k. Maybe A THIRD of those during Trump’s first year. But you won’t recognize that AMAZING SUCCESS story, will you?

Do I love the way ICE operates? Nope. Once the investigation is over and the two shooters of Pretti are tried, I’ll most likely agree with their conviction. Do those two bad actors mean that the other ICE agents who helped round up the other 600k are not doing their jobs legally? NO! Find specific instances of abuse. Prosecute the abusers. You want body cameras? You’ll get them. You want the ICErs unmasked. It’ll be done. But let’s get those here ILLEGALLY out of here!

It's not amazing
It's disgusting
Voluntary deportations are the way to go. Period.
It's compassionate and civil
There is nothing wrong with that
It's actually a tradition in this country to be civil and not overly punish the guilty
If you are found guilty of a non violent crime
It's traditional to let the guilty get their affairs in order before serving their sentence
What's wrong with letting someone getting their affairs in order before leaving the country

The Trump administration is about hate and punishment. Stephen Miller is so full of hate for these people that he demands DHS punish them all.
That's what the PEOPLE are upset about
The unnecessary punishment
The Trump administration is not interested in treating people civilly
It's demands DHS punish these people

People are being deported to 3rd world countries they have no connection to and go directly to a prison
Are you so filled with hate that you are OK with the Trump administration essentially destroying their lives

Why do they have to punish?

Keep poking the bear, expect to be attacked.

Our ancestors knew this truism but it seems to have been lost as we became "civilized."

They are not attacking us
They are part of the economy that keep costs low
Take housing insurance
It's been going up by huge amounts due to climate change
Insurers are leaving the state of Fl putting more pressure on rates
I got news for you
These high rates everyone is paying and complaining about
Are actually cheap discounted rates due to illegals
They make up a massive percentage of the construction industry
No big deal to the insurance companies
These are pass through costs
They estimate the much higher cost to rebuild due to deportations then raise their rates appropriately
Of course putting more pressure on inflation raising the cost of living

What is the most unguarded border in the world?

What you say about illegals working in construction is true; also agriculture, meat packing and in restaurants.

It would be best to give them permission to work here, pay taxes, but NOT participate in voting or entitlement benefits such as welfare and Social Security.

End "anchor baby" or "marrying a citizen" paths to citizenship
o
A "worker visa" program which can be renewed annually provided there are no criminal incidents.

Ed, come on! You miss the point entirely! The ones ‘being rounded up’ had every opportunity to self deport. They chose not to. And you would trust someone who swam a river or scaled a wall to get here illegally to not try and hide and relocate somewhere else in the USA if they ‘were given time to get their affairs in order’?

It’s simple. You either believe in borders between countries or you don’t.

How far would you go to support a law before it’s unreasonable to do so? I assume just like me, there are extremes you’d no longer support even if it was made law.

That boundary is the only difference between us. I don’t think you’d want your wife or daughter thrown in jail if she had an abortion in the past. Murder is a crime that has no expiration date. Florida is doing its best to equate all stages of development as a human being* and they’re going to have to do some twisty shit ass thinking to excuse abortion as an exception to murder if some people get their way. (If not applicable now, I’d doubt you want your grandkids to go through that at some point)

I want proper punishment that fits the crime and makes sense. Stay here but get to the back of the line for good people. If not now, when is this going to get fixed? The can has been kicked down the road many times already.

People are always going to be here illegally short of turning the place into Donald’s dictatorship. No one has a problem with the worst the worst being gone, except the worst of the worst.

Either you believe in borders or you don’t. I feel that you should NEVER gain advantages by YOUR illegal actions. I don’t know why the concept isn’t accepted by all? You are here illegally. You have a country of origin. If caught, you should be returned to your country of origin.

Then if you want to return start the immigration process LIKE ALL THE NON LAW BREAKERS are doing.

Why should we send perfectly useful and contributing people to benefit some other country INSTEAD OF OURS?

I'M LOOKING OUT FOR US. YOU'RE JUST IMMITATING THE HOSPITAL INSPECTORS WITH THEIR MINDLESS CHECKLISTS YOU COMPLAIN ABOUT.

So there.

Again, many (most?) of the people being targeted did not come over the border illegally, they came here with visa, which got revoked, expired, modified, etc...

Do you think all the Somalis and Koreans being arrested in MN snuck across the border? Or did they just fly here and not leave?

About 50% of all illegal immigrants came in the U.S. here legally and never left or overstayed. My suspicion, in MN that number is far higher, because the populations in MN are not the demographics that would sneak across the border based on geography.

And, yes I know MN borders Canada, very few illegal crossings in this area due to the weather and geography, it's just too risky. It happens, but it's like a statistical non-issue. I would guess something like 90% of illegals in MN came here legally initially, so borders have almost nothing to do with it.
