I don't know if it takes dreaming, but I definitely work things out in my subconscious. It can work on things that happened to me for decades, then suddenly I realize I have an answer to some puzzlement, or maybe decide I was wrong about my earlier thoughts entirely.

A lot of times it is a matter of realizing finally I didn't want to face the truth at the time [yes! "I couldn't handle the truth!"]. In any case, it happens without consciously realizing I was working it out.

Ugh.

I attribute it to emotions and is likely why I'm so misanthropic. To steal a quote from Stephen King, since it's stated so perfectly - "We almost always see where our best interests lie, I think; but oftentimes what we see means very little compared to what we feel". Ain't that the truth.

Every major hurdle of my past is one I can look back on and just think "Are you f#$%ing retarded?". Every one of them was so ridiculously simple, the answer so bloody apparent. But all of those instances came with a high emotional factor, and that f#$%s everything up. If you can check emotions, all of life is simple. This is likely what happens in your case. Years go by, emotions fade, and all that's left are facts. Facts are easy to work with, and you're problem is now easily solved.

The head makes life. The heart makes life worthwhile. Keep them in balance or pay dearly. It's that simple.

And to quote that Baz Luhrman song - "If you succeed in doing this, tell me how".
Be bold and risk defeat, or be cautious and encourage it.

I think Bob Hope was funnier in his movie roles than as a standup. He plays a likable coward in his best roles. Fires off about at least 1 gag line per dialogue usually.

from the ever-growing pile of misleading facts:

"It's impossible to open a cabin door during flight in a modern jet airplane."

This is true, but only above a certain altitude. The doors on modern jets open inward. The cabins are pressurized. The pressure differential between the inside and the outside will prevent anyone from pulling the door open. But pressure increases as altitude decreases. At some point it takes quite an effort, but it becomes possible to open the door.

Regardless of any of this, in most jurisdictions you can be fined for even trying to open a door mid-flight.

son of a bitch! Give me a drink!

if unfamiliar with that but it resonates with you because you drink, do not play the video, you'll be stuck with an earworm forever. Just reading the lyrics, you won't get it.

Just saying.

Its not a song about alcohol, but about heroin, isn't it? If he can't get clean of heroin he is asking for a drink.

Seems like it. I think the poor guy has both addictions. That refrain when he wants his drink has me and my wife exclaiming it once in a while in imitation, for a lark, just being bad.

A lot of people would just think this new CBS show is a documentary.

Yesterday Waze instructed me to take a different road home from a stop I made at the supermarket. its directions seemed odd, but I couldn't tell exactly where I was and so I followed them. They led me back to the supermarket. Then it wanted me to take another road and I ignored it.

I think it often decides you could save one second by making a huge detour and changing to a different route. And so it gets you to double back if you're not careful.

there's a route home that is longer, but often with less traffic. When it tells me to take it, I do. but half the time at a certain location it instructs me to double back a bit and take different route. Now, if I were going to take that last portion, it makes more sense to get there an entirely different way (shorter and with little traffic). I ignore it then. it's when I'm not certain where I am that it gets me.

BTW, today, Oct. 21st 2015, is the date when Marty McFly arrived to the future.
