If all the illegals are deported who is going to mow our lawns, build our homes and cook our restaurant meals?

Sure, I "get it," but if this actually happens then We The Lazy People will actually have to fill in the void and "work hard," a thing anathema to most of us.

Should be fun to watch.

I agree completely. Most people just don't understand the labor market.
At my age a Life In Prison sentence is not much of a deterrent.

Death penalties are not meant as punishment as much as they are to deter others from committing violent crimes. The Romans did this quite effectively with crucifixions. They crucified over 100,000 criminals and runaway slaves so the General Public would get the idea that you're better off not doing those things. And it worked, seeing somebody hanging on a cross slowly dying is a great deterrent.

We should bring crucifixion back as THE main means of execution in America.

Hell, if it's good enough for the son of god...

There is no evidence the death penalty deters crime.

Prison often doesn't either. That does not mean we get rid of prisons.

As to the commutation, I would refuse it. One thing you have to give Timothy McVeigh is when he was sentenced he basically refused any kind of appeals. That is why they executed him in just a couple years.

Only because it's used so infrequently now. It certainly worked for the Romans with crucifixions. It worked in Japan. It certainly worked in China when Mao took over in 1949. The country was a cesspool of opium users and sellers and he ordered the death penalty to anyone caught distributing or selling opium. In just a few years the opium trade was almost totally gone. The death penalty works as a deterrent when properly applied but it rarely is now.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

We don't execute enough people in America, and when we do it takes too damned long to do so and costs we tax payers too much money.

Allow one expedited appeal and if it fails...sayonara.

"Do the crime, get buried in lime"

"Deterrence or punishment?"

WGAS...just take out the trash.

The video below is more complete. First he begged to get off lightly but the officer explains driving without a license, in his case, was a felony, end of discussion . You can hear dude say he wanted to shoot himself... you don't need to talk to get that done. Perhaps the gun was not in his hand yet.

Some may think the cop didn't have to shoot. I'm surprised how many people don't know that they are trained to blow you away as soon as you fail to follow the order to drop the weapon, or in this case, I think, to quit grabbing for it. The reason has to be that it has been shown that any hesitation in this matter is what gets LEOs killed. I think, actually, having to first tell them to drop it, not opening fire immediately, makes their job 100% more dangerous

That’s hard to say. Lots of people aren’t as serious so may drop it. Hard core cop killers don’t listen anyway.
