He was convicted by a Manhattan jury before a Manhattan judge.

91% of the voters in Manhattan are registered Democrats.

Same for Brooklyn and the Bronx.

If the voir dire accomplished anything, it found jurors who were slightly less anti-Trump than others in the pool.

It was a kangaroo court.

Had the trial been held in Staten Island, where the numbers are nearly even, Trump never would have been convicted.

If you were on a jury for a politician accused of breaking the law
Would determine guilt simply on politics or look at the evidence to determine guilt ???????????

As a Libertarian I could care less that Kamala lost; I voted for another candidate, one whom I expected to lose: I don't whine over that loss.

It is Trump and this "lawfare" baloney that's in my sights, and if you're too politicized to note that I am complaining and not whining then that's on you.

Nobody in the USA has ever been, objectively and legally, "above the law" until now.

"Kangaroo court?"

You must be referring to the USSC.

Trump and his minions have cleverly kept his fat ass out of a prison cell which was his main goal.

Looting the treasury will be their follow-up play: can the USA file bankruptcy?

A classic play from the Trump playbook.

If you actually were a libertarian you would be against prosecution for victimless "crimes."

All these Trump trials are lawfare, banana republic stuff. Because the left wingers see how popular he is and how he will come after their precious establishment.

You, libertarian? Nope.

I said that I VOTE Libertarian, not that I AM Libertarian.

My personal politics are complex and not reflected by either of the two main parties.

But I'm also a lawyer, and while I have an anti-establishment component to me I am not as far down the rabbit hole as you are.

Your ignorance of the law shows in your comment that Trump was convicted of victimless crimes: the law clearly supports the felony convictions, no matter how much the MAGAts say it doesn't.

He was also found to have sexually assaulted a woman.

He's demonstrationg over and over that he really is a piece of....(ahem), and his reelection shows that you really CAN fool most of the people most of the time.

Show us the victim then. There is none. This was all political games. Even a lawyer who went to University of American Samoa would see this.

The "Victim" is the people of NY state.

Trump lied about property values in order to be assessed less taxes.

Had he not lied he'd have owed and paid more, which additional money would have gone into the state coffers and been used to pay typical government expenses.

No, the victim was not a person: you're confusing this case with the other NY civil case where yeah, there most certainly was a victim, a victim of an unrepentant sexual predator.

What a joke.

Like I said, it was "a jury of his peers."

Lied? The county does the assessment. EVERYBODY tries to lower their property taxes. That is just smart business. The county would have set a value and he is free to appeal. Heck I did that for my parent's house.

The city doesn't care what anyone thinks their property is worth. It does its own assessment of the property and charges real estate tax based on that. Not the owner's estimate.

As for the loans:

As they always do, the banks did their own appraisal of the property values and had no problem with Trump's estimates.

If they did, they would have denied the loans, or demanded a higher rate of interest.

A Deutsche Bank executive testified in court, they used their own guidelines before deciding to loan Trump hundreds of millions of dollars.

The only one who had a problem believing Trump's estimates, was the Judge who decided Mara Lago is worth $18 million.

Actual value in excess of $1 billion.

You yourself complain about criminals getting a break in NYC. Now you're making an excuse for one.
