Good post. Except last sentence. Rx is not automatically ‘stupid’ because he disagrees with me. Nor me and you because we disagree with him. This ‘silencing’ of Kimmel is quite nuanced in my opinion. I think he crossed a line. And DOES present himself often more as a ‘news’ show and ‘political ‘ show than a comedy show. Lord knows I have tried to watch him but don’t find him funny! He uses ‘comedy’ to spread his interpretation of ‘news’. But I can easily understand those that fear for the ‘freedom of the press’. (But Rx does argue he’s really NOT ‘the press, just a comedian…) To be clear. His 1st amendment rights have not been abridged. He can shout. He can podcast. He can join DT and post here! He just can’t post on WoV or yap on ABC. |

The left goes on their “he lost his freedom of speech” thing all the time. The Pittsburgh Post Gazette fired an editorial cartoonist a few years back. The guy was far left. He was told to balance his cartoons out. He didn’t. He got fired. It made brief national news. Same leftist reaction. Just one more example. I think I said it here earlier. The best thing leftists could do over the shooting was stay quiet. But they are unable to do so. Part of it is they have had such control over the culture they think they are immune to public opinion. This time they were not. And this time the silent majority snapped. War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength |

| Gandler Member since: Aug 15, 2019 Threads: 30 Posts: 5260 | Jimmy Kimmel getting fired is problematic because it was the FCC pressuring for the firing, so this is a 1st Amendment issue. He didn't do anything that violates a FCC restriction. He made a joke that was within the bounds of approved words on the network. It is very dangerous when Presidents use FCC to remove political opponents from shows. Personally I don't like Kimmel or his show, and never watch it (not that I watch TV at all,) but I have no issue with what he said from the transcript I have seen (have not seen a video of it.) |

People have said far worse. But what he said was bad enough to be axed by liberal media Giant ABC. ‘Freedom of speech’ is not freedom from consequences. |

If it was his company firing him I would agree. It wasn't, the FCC was threatening his company to fire him. This is where it becomes a 1st amendment issue. People always say how liberals like cancel culture. I can't think of one example of the FCC pressuring a conservative company for a lame/tame joke to fire a specific employee. If anything that Fox Guy the other week talking about setting up death camps for homeless the other week was way more violent than a joke about a shooter being a fan of maga... Like, I don't even see what is controversial about Kimmel's joke, it's not funny (most of his stuff is not,) but it's also not offensive... |

"In God We Trust" ------------------- Donald J. Trump Feb 23, 2018 . . . Our nation’s motto is IN GOD WE TRUST. This week, our nation lost an incredible leader who devoted his life to helping us understand what those words really mean. We will never forget the historic crowds, the voice, the energy, and the profound faith of Billy Graham! . . . https://xcancel.com/realDonaldTrump/status/967084806726127616 ----------------- Trump's next trick [remove Terrorists] requires all hands on deck: ![]() God versus no God [Demon, Democrat, Democracy, etc.]: ![]() |
