Not at all. Maybe you have not had to deal with DEI hires. I have. For one a prof in college. She was a complete joke, all she did was outline the text on the board. She even brought up that other profs got on her for this. It was a running joke that once a semester she would "get food poisoning at KFC" and cancel her classes. But she was DEI back when it was called AA and thus untouchable. That is just a personal story. There are many like it out there. It is all over.

I imagine they discourage negative requests. Seniority may allow them to choose preferable assignments over others. (By which means you can try to avoid certain people)

Protection detail is a hard but prestige job and nobody is forced to do it. A SS agent must work up to it and want to do it. If an agent doesn't want to protect an assigned protectee, that usually means they get pulled from protection detail and spends the rest of his/her career fighting counterfeiting or cybercrimes. SS agents shouldn't act as some type of praetorian guard, selecting who the next emperor will be.
