Israel, the USA, and Turkey are bombing Syria in the wake of the overthrow of Assad. One article matter of factly mentioned that Israel eliminated the entire Syrian navy.
The USA will justify our attacks as ‘going after known terrorists’ or something to that effect. Why didn’t we go after the same ‘known terrorists’ while Assad was in power? Hopefully the new ruling entity in Syria will be better for the Syrian people. I’m not optimistic.

I had heard that also, but I haven't seen any reporting that the U.S. is actually participating. I don't doubt that they are, but usually we would get some military confirmation after an engagement.

There is plenty of stories and video of Israel bombing the navy and air force bases in Syria.

Because, duh, with Assad gone that means Russia is gone. It means Syria is on its own, Russia does not have money or the manpower right now to maintain a presence there. Why do you think when Assad vacated the country he went directly to Russia.

Iran has been supporting Syria in a big way so any attacks by Israel and the U.S. will be for "stopping ISIS terrorists".

I would not say Israel is living in the dark ages, it is a super progressive country on many fronts. I would live in Israel over any country in the middle east.

Israel is not living in the dark ages even if some bigots think so just because Israel does not see marriage the same as they do.

President Trump announced that he released a hold on 2,000-pound bombs that the Biden administration had withheld from Israel over concerns about the civilian death toll in Gaza.

I guess the place is not flat enough.

Israel is releasing hundreds of Palestinian criminals to the (unhappy to take them) nearby Muslim countries.

After the Israeli hostages are released, how soon do you will think it will be that these released Palestinian terrorists will meet untimely deaths? I think Mossad will hunt many of them down.

Who knows. I assume people are in jail for different levels of some crime. I mean, there are probably people in jail for throwing rocks.

I think the only deal Israel can make is a practical one. Something like, "We'll start every new day, not shooting at anyone in Gaza. If we go all day without an attack, there will be peace. If we're attacked that day, then we'll shoot back. And we'll start every day as if it's the beginning and try again."

That’s not how Israel operates now. They don’t wait for the terrorists to actually launch a new attack; they find out where an attack is being planned, and who is planning the attack, and do their best to neutralize that threat.

The released terrorists apparently cover quite a vast range of crimes. If someone was throwing rocks at the Israelis , I don’t consider that a minor offense. The intent is to injure/kill whoever you are throwing the rock at, isn’t it?

Anyway, this deal implies that during the cease fire Israel will not be actively trying to free the hostages, and will rather just be waiting for a few to be released intermittently per the diplomatic deal.

It's not what Israel does now because it's literally a one day at a time peace plan. Nothing else holds, as far as I can tell.
