How come there were no mass protests when the Russians started slaughtering Ukrainians.

About 100,000 Ukrainians have been killed and about another 110,000 have been wounded.

The numbers are way, way higher than the numbers for the Palestinians.

Is it because they believed protesting against Russia would be fruitless_______?

Or is it because they care less about the lives of the Ukrainians_______?

That would be my guess - that they could care less about the Ukrainians.

The Ukrainians don't register on their sympathy meters.

I think we all know the answer, we just cannot say it. They want Israel wiped off the planet. Nobody cares about the Palestinians (well some misguided people do because they get swayed by funded propaganda to chant against Israel with partial info.)

Remember the "protests" started before Israel retaliated. People were not protesting Israel's actions, they were celebrating Hamas's "victories". Unfortunately, Israel, in a wave of modern antisemitism has been painted as the ultimate boogeyman (that controls everything, etc....)

Israel probably cares more about Palestinians than any protestor ever will. (Remember none of their Arab neighbors are helping, and not just now, ever. They are used as a political football by the Arab world to allow attacks on Israel.) Israel shows such a high level of restraint it is ridiculous (and they still get painted as the warmongers.) Israel has been invaded by it's neighbors since its inception and always gets painted as the aggressor, absurd.

Israel is not perfect, and I do not think a religious based country is ever a good idea. But, there are many reasons that I have no issue standing firmly with Israel.

You don't even need to go as extreme as Ukraine (or as geographically far,) there are many Arab countries that are experiencing true war and oppression with many times more deaths than the Palestinians are, and nobody cares. There is a reason that only Israel is the bad guy in the middle east. And, the reason is antisemitism.

Israel is the good guy in this (there are not even shades of gray.)

Actually, I think one apparent difference between response to Russia vs. Gaza, is the Russians aren't all assumed to be with Putin. Palestinians seem to be overtly assumed to be guilty of something even if they aren't in Hamas, whereas even the Russian soldiers fighting in Ukraine aren't necessarily fighting as willing volunteers.

Both peoples deserve to be judged individually. So do people in Israel and anywhere else. That's the way to combat antisemitism as well. Some Americans in war deserve to be convicted of war crimes that they actually did, and others as heroes.

That's the way it always is, not sometimes is. No exceptions as far as I'm concerned.

Shoot, even in small communities like a cult of a couple hundred people, you find people not completely with the program even when they're being force fed their thoughts.

The Israelis warned em to get out, so those that didn't should not be heard to complain, nor should others on their behalf.

Of course the Israelis are going to smash Gaza: the Gazans through their leadership, Hamas, committed offenses against Israel warranting this draconian response.

Israel is now reminding the U.S. about civilian casualties in our wars.

Estimates range from 30,000 to 182,000 civilians were killed by the U.S. during the Vietnam War.

So what are we supposed to do? Call every Palestinian on the phone and ask them where they stand?

Palestinian support of Hamas is quite like blacks in the USA and the Democrat Party. Even if every last one is not voting for it the support is near universal. The hate they have for Israel is something most Americans cannot fathom. We are not talking liberal hate for Trump. We are talking people who would rather starve than take food from Israel.

lol

The only thing Duffman is good for is tips on how to get stains out of a white hood. For everything else we should just ignore him. Or continue mocking.

The question regarded perception, not war. You should have to live by standards you support. You don't care if someone groups you in with actual perpetrators so that's the standard you wish applied to you.

You think you don't get grouped in? We all get grouped in all the time.

It is a matter of caring on your part. Do I care if the Palestinians in Gaza group me in with other supporters of Israel? Nope, because I know it is going to happen no matter what I do. I live my own life and that is that.

OTOH, if you are going to take things like those in geopolitical intelligence take things, you group people together. They simply have to do so to do their job. A security advisor does not go to someone like Putin and say, "well, as a group they kind of think this way but they are all individuals so you can't think that way....."

No, they will explain it more like, "these people hate Israel with all their being. So if you come out against them publicly they are going to back you and your invasion of Ukraine which will help muck things up in the UN which is good for us......."
