I'd happily hire him if I was in charge of hiring cops for Pittsburgh. Everything looked correct and by the book for both officers prior to the crap going down and shooting the guy was totally justified. You can't attack an officer with a weapon, don't care who you are.

Hell of a way to run a country, when the authority's consider the population their enemy.

It is that thinking that has the populace at arms with the police now.

I don't like being thought of automatically as a criminal when I speak with a cop.

You made a post of a SWAT team (10 people) resigning from a city force.

SWAT teams are there to responde to extreme emergencies (hostage rescue, armed takeovers, etc...) they do not patrol the street.

I am not sure how wanting a city to have a SWAT team has anything to do with "armed confrontation with citizens".... Nobody said anything about the whole population being an enemy. You are setting up a lot of strawmen....

So yes, I think cities should have a SWAT team, and that has nothing to do with what is going on now.

If they did stick to SWAT duty's it would be better. But hard to justify the amount of money spent on these Hit squads if they don't do other duty's , like no knock raids, and serving warrants.

These guys need to be drug tested and tested for steroid use regularly.

You do realize police are drugs tested and polygrpahed (so they can't lie about former drug use)? ....

Steroid Use? I guess? I am not sure that is a massive problem....

Hit Squads is a pretty divisive term, doing high risk warrants is part of their job....

I am not sure what you link about SWAT support specialist job description is trying to prove? That they take careful accounting of monthy stats and inventory?

A question they will be asking at whatever inquiry they do at the Atlanta shooting, is how other police would have handled that final moment of the chase.

I don't think I would pull the trigger seeing a taser spark and knowing what I knew.
