Aren't there suspensions on evictions right now at least for 2 months?

Who would evict me? I own my place.

Things are looking up already.

I do not see how moving in with my parents will help me.
I own my place and still have bills to pay

I thought you rented. So you're stuck unless
you own it outright and have no mortgage.

I have tried calling NYS Dept. of Labor unemployment claims no less than 100 times

I have made it through to the automated system 5 times

I was then placed on hold for about one minute each time until another recording played telling me they were too busy to handle my call and to try again later

I am beginning to believe they merely took the phones off the hook and play the same "we are too busy" messages to everyone

As for your question - there is no work that can be done right now as the family courts are not accepting new filings other than emergency orders of protection - the case is set for trial and those trial dates are all delayed by months now - so, there is no work to be done

Dealing with NYS Dept. of Labor so far:

-Hours spent filing online claim due to website errors: 4
-Call attempts to finalize claim: 550+
-Times I got through to automated menu: 5
-Times I got through to a live person to finalize my claim: 0

Back to the grind of redialing nonstop tomorrow

So do you own it or does
the bank own it with a
mortgage.

It was addressed at a press conference. They did say they are aware of how many are trying and how few can be accommodated. They also said when you eventually get through you can apply retroactively with no penalty, and will be paid from your first date of unemployment.

Summary of my calls and results

Delta- could not get through on phone. Was told wait time was SIX HOURS! Could not successfully cancel online originally. Eventually was able to cancel but charged $220 fee out of $350 ticket cost! Sent unhappy email complaint. 4 days later received apologetic reply restoring the $220 to my credit.

Southwest- complicated ticket involving multiple people, points, cash, voucher Two minute wait on phone. Agent probably took ten minutes to get it all taken care of. That's a great result

Last Minute Cruises- Owed me $120 in port fees for a daughter who had to cancel a trip the rest of us did go on. Royal Caribbean refunded the money to them, not me. Took around 2 weeks of phone calls. The first 4 calls resulted in someone saying they would take care of it. The 5th person read all the previous notes for my account, and was able to process the refund in around 5 minutes. I'd say I was on hold between 2 and 3 hours over the sequence of calls.

Royal Caribbean- They were incompetent at providing a coherent answer as to who they refunded the money to, as it wasn't me. They kept saying they refunded it to my Amex card. I told them I paid with a Visa. It took me telling them they probably refunded a travel agent and not me.

Chase- Had issue with card. Two minute wait. Resolved easily.

The Villages- No wait for phone to answer. Immediate answer that I could cancel with immediate refund. Done.

United- Easy online cancel for full credit.

In general, point is private enterprise can handle this shit, the government, not so much...
