What’s funny is, I only argued with him because I think his whole idea is ridiculous. Some people are braver than others. And people also have different values and perceptions. I’ve seen plenty of liberals willing to get pummeled in the face of overwhelming force. And some won’t get anywhere near that kind of thing. Big deal. Conservatives are no different.

See, just because there is an exception to the rule does not mean the rule does not hold. It is not math were once false means false.

Quite simply, liberals are far more likely to fear more things. Who goes more crazy when some report says some food is bad for you? For crying out loud look at how many things CA requires some kind of warning label for. Look at which side keeps calling for warning labels and who laughs at them.

Liberals are more afraid of catching the china virus so were the first to run out and get the shot. Conservatives have taken a more measured approach, weighing pros and cons.

I guess it once again comes down to some people cannot handle talking in general terms. So if you want to go thru the phone book or whatever we use now and say, "well, this one is liberal and they are as you say, but this one is not quite as much........" THAT is ridiculous. Learn to make general observations.

I’m on my iPad. You can google the article if you want to read all of it.

Are conservatives more afraid of threats than liberals? Political psychologists have long found evidence that people on the right are more sensitive to scary stuff, on average, than people on the left, a basic psychological difference thought to drive some political disagreements between the two groups.

But new research suggests that's overly simplistic.

In a new international study, conservatives and liberals both responded to threats — but they responded more strongly to different kinds of threats. And to make matters more complex, those responses don't always map nicely onto the political divide, or stay consistent from nation to nation.

Related: Why did the Democratic and Republican parties switch platforms?

"This link between threat and conservative beliefs, or conservative ideology, is just not simple," said study leader Mark Brandt, a psychology professor at Tilburg University in the Netherlands. "It depends on a lot of different things. It depends on the type of threats that we study; it depends on how we measure political beliefs and what kind of political beliefs that we measure; and it depends on the precise country that we're looking at."

Eh, you’re out in nonsense land. Thanks anyway.

If the wizard wants to look at all the factors on whether the virus is safer than the vaccine I’ll happily accept the conclusion. Will you?

Moving the goal posts there. We were talking about blood clots specifically. I pointed out that the comparison being used about blood clots was not correct by a factor of 10.

You’re the one talking to yourself. I never made any claim about blood clotting previously.

A better correlation would be "why do Democrats get scared of things more than Republicans?" Because this is not just covid. The same patterns fit everything from global warming to airbags in cars. Democrats are just far more likely to think everything is going to kill them.
Ermmm. But I think Dem or Rep, there is some evidence that Covid is ACTUALLY killing them, or to a greater extent IS seriously injuring them. This is no mythical beast. It's a real killer, in your neighbourhood.
What i wonder is if we can estimate how many lives are wasted by non-compliers and whether that group is getting value for money from their life choices. We can possibly use the same data to estimate how much life use has been wasted by the compliers, too. So much data, so many variables.

Yeah, that is why conservatives need "safe spaces" right?

And common sense works fine, until it doesn't. That's why you need science.

(I knew you were going to get twitchy if I brought any science into it.)

I am not the one who does not understand that science says there are only 2 genders.

You keep veering off on the conversation. You probably hardly remember the original point.
