I spoke earlier with the attorney that supposedly was interested in expanding his practice and having me come in to run the family law section

Well, sure, I would be running the family law section - my own - as he was not looking to expand or hire anyone but to lease out space in his office to other attorneys

He said he will be renting "shared space" to 8 other attorneys

Situations like that can become an ethical quagmire (giggity!) and not in a position to pay someone for space (and not in a "prime" location)

How is it an ethical issue? I assume the idea is rent space on the cheap instead of work out of the back of a nail salon. There is no partnership and it is not put out to clients that there is. Maybe get some referral business, but mostly just a professional looking place. Is there a Bar rule thing or something.

I was watching some news last night and IIRC, they mentioned elder abuse in rest homes and I believe the stat they used was 1 in 5-6 seniors that arrive at the ER that live in care facility's are injured because of abuse!

So the billing [medicare] that the ER charges the taxpayer for these accidents are actually caused injury's. They talked about the quality of the people tasked with caring for these old people is miserably low, and said "who would want to work taking care of old people".

There is a tsunami of boomers headed for care facility's that have no family to check on them, or even inquire as to the nature and cause of their injury's.

Because the masses are idiots and when one of those attorneys F's up a case, they will sue the entirety of the office and, I'd rather not deal with it

Oh. I can see some of that but would figure it is easy to separate yourself in such a place. Then again, I am no expert on the finer points of how law firms organize.
