It took 2 years to build the case against Nixon and they had proof of actual felonies. The faux hearing today had nothing. No foundation, no crimes, no nothing. Is this a joke? If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

I think you need to give Federalist Papers 65 a glance over. |

Federalist 65 "This paper discusses the power of the Senate to try impeachment cases. According to Hamilton warned that the process of impeachment might become political, causing factions to polarize further away from each other in their defense or prosecution of the impeached individual. He rejects the notion that the Supreme Court should judge impeachment due to its small size. His recommendation is for the Senate to conduct impeachment proceedings as apolitically as possible.[1] In the end, Hamilton concedes that this is an imperfect solution, but the best one available." What does that have to do with the faux hearing today. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

I expect the GOP to get more desperate on Friday. They can’t have another day like today. “A straight man will not go for kids.” - AZDuffman |

You said in your post that it was a legal process. It's not. It's a political process. Check out the 2nd and 3rd sentences. And then the rest kinda just describes EXACTLY what we are going through right now. Republicans dug in on defending the indefensible. Ironic thing, I didn't see any of them actually defend Trump's actions. It was just, "look over here" bulls**t. "A well-constituted court for the trial of impeachments is an object not more to be desired than difficult to be obtained in a government wholly elective. The subjects of its jurisdiction are those offenses which proceed from the misconduct of public men, or, in other words, from the abuse or violation of some public trust. They are of a nature which may with peculiar propriety be denominated POLITICAL, as they relate chiefly to injuries done immediately to the society itself. The prosecution of them, for this reason, will seldom fail to agitate the passions of the whole community, and to divide it into parties more or less friendly or inimical to the accused. In many cases it will connect itself with the pre-existing factions, and will enlist all their animosities, partialities, influence, and interest on one side or on the other; and in such cases there will always be the greatest danger that the decision will be regulated more by the comparative strength of parties, than by the real demonstrations of innocence or guilt. |

And this is their star witness? He has nothing, zero, nada, except an opinion of what he heard someone else say. I repeat, is this a joke? If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |
