Yeah fear, fear of admitting they've been wrong. Fear of losing contributions from Alumni, fear of fear. The board that decides who gets in, gets an earful from large contributors, and no one but no one wants to take any chance of putting that at risk.

It's always about the money. The faculty and the board are all cherishing their bonuses from that monster endowment, second only to Harvards, [37 billion]. Similar thinking as to why most college football coaches are white, because of the schools sport sponsors.

The faculty, the board, the S&B are all afraid. If they open the door to Asians , they may all lose something precious, their image, their bonuses, maybe even end up with an Asian POTUS. Like letting a camel get his nose under the tent. I don't think most people dislike Chinese for being Chinese, they dislike them because they know the Asians kick their butts at mental competition, and competition is the very last thing American academia wants.
