This is confusing to me. In 1968 a
friend had a 1948 Chrysler and it
was beyond ancient to us. From
another planet. Today you still
see cars from 98 on road, or
even older. They seem like yesterday,
a couple years ago,

It is different with cars. They went thru big changes in the early 1960s and bigger the early 1980s. 10 years old was once ancient, few people had cars that old. Now the median age is about 11 years. But I keep realizing how old my only suit is. Like Adams, I kind of hope to never need another.

I graduated HS in 1982, and I was driving a 1969 Oldsmobile 442, a 13 year old car (I paid $1600 for it then). I now drive both a 2004 BMW Z4 (14 year old car) and a 1999 Jeep Wrangler (19 year old car). They both run beautifully and don't seem old to me at all.

In 82 I was driving a 68 Lincoln, with suicide
doors. 14 years old, it was considered a
vintage car from another era. I have 2004
Saturn that nobody considers vintage
or from any era.

There’s a Netflix series called “Fastest Car” which revolves around a 4 car drag race at the end of each episode. The twist is that three of the cars are “sleepers”, older model cars and trucks that have been performance modified by their owners, and the fourth car is an exotic factory “supercar” like a Ferrari or Lamborghini. The bulk of the show revolves around profiles of the drivers and their preparations for the race, and the last 10 minutes is the race. It is very well done for a reality show, with the producers often getting tears from their subjects as they reminisce about a dead friend or relative who supported them.

The language is uncensored so be warned, as the gearhead community certainly knows how to use curse words for punctuation.

'Veep' is on Prime, I suffered through 3
episodes. Good god, what garbage.
You have a totally vain and unlikable
VP played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus. She's
surrounded by a totally unlikable staff
that all hate each other.

The show consists of them being in
a crisis meltdown every minute, and
hurling insulting barbs at each other.
And somebody uses a four letter word
in every sentence, usually the F word.

The show isn't funny, it's depressing.
No character is in the least bit likable,
and the constant demeaning of each
other, why would people watch crap
like this. It must be made for Libs,
maybe they think it's funny. It makes
me feel like like it's robbing me of IQ
points as I'm watching..

Added later: I should have read the
reviews first. 9000 reviews, 3000 of
them are 1 and 2 stars. People who
feel exactly as I do. I read 'boring'
and 'annoying' over and over. And
nobody in any office uses that much
foul language, it's rude and would
never be tolerated. Go and read the
negative reviews, they're way better
written than this juvenile show.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

Those are one of my all-time favorite luxury 4-door cars. Just such clean styling. Lincoln tried to bring the Continental back, but because it was not an instant hit they are dropping it. Huge mistake as it would have been a great Black Car and limo base.

If they were smart they would jack build one off the Explorer platform, just figure a way to make a car jacked up on suspension look good.

Netflix
Gantz : 0
Anime movie from Japan
Anime has come a long way from hand drawn to computer graphics
The computer graphics are really good in this movie
It can be watched alone but you have a lot of WTF moments as you learn the game the characters are forced to play
I already watched the anime series "Gantz" years ago that preceded the movie so I knew exactly what was going on
The whole plot is kind of a twilight zone episode. Its very bizarre.
You are in a car accident, or murdered or heart attack, die and then you wake up in a room with other people that died and now wake up in the same room
There is nothing in the room but a huge round machine called Gantz that now control their 2nd lives that sets up dangerous survival contests and transports you there out of the room.
I enjoyed the movie

Anime is struggling in Japan. Hopefully the transition from hand drawn to computer graphics will revive the industry
The below is in Japanese but the movie on Netflix is dubbed in English

There is a project in Japan to use CGI to generate a real looking girl

The images in Gantz are pretty impressive today, but they are clearly CGI.

Anybody notice Nflix has totally dumped
it user reviews? Gone, poof. You can no
longer see what others think of the shite that
passes for entertainment that Nflix
spews out. I'll never watch any of their
self produced crap now, most of it blows
and I'm not wasting my time on it. Prime
is soooo much better, never seen a series
there I didn't like.

That's why they got rid of the reviews,
too many people hating their crappy
shows. Nflix is very secretive. They
never release ratings, and now the reviews
are gone.

I am close to pulling the plug on Netflix at least for a few months. Just not watching like I did 4 years ago. Haven't even tuned in part of OitNB to see the ladies in the new, tougher prison. That show is now awful.
