I should also say that I don't consider myself an activist, unless a, "Live and let live," social philosophy automatically makes me an activist. If any violence is being committed at all, and it is violence being committed on adults, by adults, and by their own choice...then it's fine. I obviously can't be in favor of medically-assisted suicide if I am not in favor of someone having their own genitals mutilated, under medical supervision, if that's something they want to do.

Agree. But should you (society…) pay for it?

The trans community (and I think the AMA?) consider the transitioning surgeries ‘necessary health care’. I consider it a choice equivalent to a facelift. Should not be paid for by public (Medicaid, Medicare) health coverages. Private health insurances can cover what they want. I’d also be against private health insurances being forced to cover the surgeries.

Edit…. If a mod wants to move this to the appropriate thread….

The health care situation has been weird for a long time. For instance.

A landmark 1976 U.S. Supreme Court ruling (Estelle v. Gamble) makes incarcerated people the only group in the United States with a protected constitutional right to health care

Though no one would argue they'd prefer prison level care, which is likely the least of the least. But I still think it's makes it very odd. You have to give health care to someone who is going to be executed in a week if it's necessary. Probably not dental work, but if you need something more emergent.

I don't think the Federal Government should pay for any healthcare whatsoever, other than for military and employees of the Federal Government. That makes that one pretty easy.

States can do as they like. I would vote against any state-sponsored healthcare and any possible expansion of state-sponsored healthcare where state-sponsored healthcare already exists.

I'm in favor of private health insurance companies being forced to cover the surgeries. If they don't like it, then they should get out of the industry. Our country would be much better off if there was no such thing as health insurance anyway. The main problem is that you can't let the insurance companies pick and choose what they will, or will not, cover, or it's not going to end with that. They'll stop covering all kinds of stuff.

Here’s an area where AI might significantly improve the landscape and drive down costs. I think there’s a lot of more mundane tasks and activities that can be more automated and watched over by smart agents.

It might be a fight to apply them, if the human part of the medical industry fights it. Every time you threaten the life of an industry people tend to fight against it as they may lose work.

But costs are so high, it might be an easier fight than some to move forward on.

Although we’ve had automation for a long time, we’ve never had smart machines that can move around and even perform multiple duties in an intelligent way. That seems a game changer to me. From what I understand some places are already providing doctors the ability to get an AI draft of a write up that they had to take more time to produce themselves.

Well, Musk has removed all filters on Russia and China on Twitter. Makes me wonder about all the Republican concern about recruiting terrorists. It’s gone now I guess.

The percentage of untrue posts from the US government is probably equivalent to that from China and Russia. Amount of spies recruited is also probably similar, lots of Americans want to turn in their neighbor that they politically disagree with.

Elective surgery is generally not covered. If you force trans surgery to be covered you really need to force them all to be covered.

I would be more in favor of banning gender reassignment surgery except for intersexed persons. It is mutilation and a high number of people who get them end up just as depressed as before. But if we are going to have them let the person that wants to chop their privates off pay for doing it.

Another issue that I see is our young men.

At one time, about 60% were single up to 30 years old.

The women in the same bracket were about 30%.

I think the male numbers have rebounded a little since then but not too much.

I've watched a variety of videos concerning women's thinking as it pertains to dating eligible men.

The women's expectations are so high for their potential mate, an average man in that age group doesn't have a chance.

If the man is below average in any way, forget it (only a figure of speech...never give up).

So what do those men do?

Porn sites (which may lead to erectile disfunction), change to a woman using drugs and/or a knife, contemplate suicide, use drugs, etc.

I saw the survey that showed 60% of men under 30 not dating and 30% of women the same age bracket. The gap is hard to explain even if you account for far more women date older than men do. It is a function of the general decline in American society since 1964.

Since the early 1970s we have been told women are great and that men are garbage. That is now home to roost. Add in the impossible standards so many women have. Add in that if she is on a dating site and is at all attractive she will have a dozen guys to replace the guy she thinks is not measuring up. Add the anti-male bias of USA Family Courts. The sum of it all is men dropping out and going MGTOW.

The USA is just following Japan and South Korea where this has been going on for over a decade now. The feminists wanted it. Now they have it. Lets see what they do with it. Hopefully instead of depression and suicide these men find hobbies and interests that are productive for them.

I grew up with several sisters.

I saw them morph negatively over time (not all feminists, but when they get in a group, extreme feminism).

They got lucky with the men they landed.

On the other side of the coin, don't lose hope single men, because there are good ones out there still.

Might need to change cultures, if possible.
