This is what I have said all along ;http://www.cbsnews.com/news/2016-democratic-candidates-push-for-gun-control-after-mass-san-bernardino-shooting/ Also our famous Joe Arpaio agrees; http://www.inquisitr.com/2608054/sheriff-joe-arpaio-asks-for-250000-gun-carrying-volunteers-to-protect-against-terrorism-and-mass-shootings/ The last official act of any government is to loot the treasury. | Face Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 61 Posts: 3941 | Curious, and this is not a rhetorical question... We all (Americans) often spout the cliche "Freedom isn't free". Generally, it's to point out the sacrifices of our men and women of the military. But do all of you (or all of them) think it stops there? I have the freedom of free market capitalism. I could start a venture that compromises or even cripples your own. My actions could financially ruin you and your entire family, yet it's not a hot button issue. I have the freedom of free travel. I could obtain a northern bug and vacation in Florida where our stout infections could wipe out scores of compromised old folks, yet it's not a hot button issue. I have the freedom of choice, and could buy an 800hp Z51 'Vette. No one "needs" it, there's no reason to have a car capable of 210mph when the max continental limit is 70. But I could get one, and I can tromp, and I can lose control (as oh so many do), yet it's not a hot button issue. I can destroy the finances of the medical industry and make you pay for it. They'll make a bit off Wiz, healthy, active, non smoker that he is, but here I am with an ER EZPass, popping vikes, tearing tissues, and smoking like the Springfield tire fire. Not an issue. I guess I just don't get it. I and mine are under the same threats from wayward guns, wayward gunners, and the insane. I look at it as the cost of doing business. I might not like (and I don't) the 19yr old kid whose daddy just bought him a Hellcat, but I accept that I must share the road with him and may get caught up in his exuberance. I might get sick from an Ontarian, might get put out of work by FedEX. It's all just life. I do my best to protect myself, but one of the town junkies might cap me with an off the grid pistol over the $8.17 in my pocket. I find no difference in any of these examples. My question is - Why do you? Be bold and risk defeat, or be cautious and encourage it. |

It does not stop there. Yes, it is sexy to think that it means men fought and did for freedom. But it really means you have to deal with things you do not like. That is what many cannot handle. I will be redundant, repeat myself and say it over and over: a plurality of people would rather live as serfs than as free men. Rather know their basic needs will be met even if it means living less well. Have someone else make their major decisions for them. While sad, a look at how people live shows it. Preferring socialized health care. Choosing to live in a HOA neighborhood. Happy with more laws restricting behavior. Real freedom would mean no laws on victimless crimes. Legal weed, coke, meth, H, and prostitution. Gays that want freedom to marry would have to accept the baker's freedom to turn away their business. No license needed for professions like barber or even lawyer, at least not by the state. I could handle most of this, but can you? You have to give up your comfort level of protections of the state. That is a cost of freedom. War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength |

The fact that gun massacres are the price of gun ownership is a fact that many overseas just don't get. They don't understand the general belief many Americans have that they have a right to own a gun the same as they have a right to own a car, or use the NHS, or get cheap corn from the state. It's wrong to judge America on it's gun control issues if your outside it.... surely? Least ways, anyone with a proper understanding of being a classical liberal should understand that. Course, increase socialized health care might also mean increased socialized mental health care, which might in turn mean less fusties and crazies shooting up the place (had to get that one in:)) It is said that your life flashes before your eyes just before you die.... it's called Life |

Nobody says that terror is a leading cause of death. But no "attacks" in almost a week so I guess all is well? War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength |

What exactly is a "gun nut?" And why are they a danger in your neighborhood? Are you in a gang-infested neighborhood or something? If you don't attack Zimmerman chances are no harm will come to you. War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength |
