If you think Bernie talking communist does not affect markets you are crazy. Leading candidate screaming he wants to ban fracking. Never mind no good reason to be just wants to ban it. That does not make one call their broker to buy oil stocks. And that is just one example. The President is a fink. |

If only you folks were talking about this BEFORE today, you'd have some sense of credibility. https://www.fool.com/investing/2020/02/24/why-oil-stocks-are-tanking-today.aspx - not one mention of Bernie and his proposed ban on fracking https://www.fool.com/investing/2020/02/25/crude-oil-threatens-double-digit-drop-as-coronavir.aspx - not one mention of Bernie and his proposed ban on fracking https://www.cnn.com/2020/02/26/business/oil-prices-coronavirus-bear-market/index.html - not one mention of Bernie and his proposed ban on fracking https://www.fool.com/investing/2020/02/24/these-oil-stocks-fell-today-as-crude-prices-crashe.aspx - not one mention of Bernie and his proposed ban on fracking You're gonna need another example. LOL! I miss Mr. Shrek, too. To me there is a 99+% chance the stock market is down due to both real (supply chain problems, decreased tourism,) and exaggerated responses to the coronavirus. I do not think the current losses are due to the possibility of a Democrat President. As it gets closer to the election, and if it appears that there might be a President Sanders or Warren, then I expect huge losses that will not recover after the election. I mean seriously, you want to own a biotech stock under President Sanders? How about a Health Insurance company? I am not sure when the bottom is hit because of coronavirus, but I fully expect a complete recovery, just in how long I'd have no idea. Apple will still sell Iphones. People will still shop at Walmart. GLXZ will launch the next big casino game. People will still eat Big Macs. If you own a REIT that specializes in Wuhan land, well, that might take longer to recover..... I believe that if the markets don't come back by November this will be a big problem for Trump. It is really the main thing he can point to; the strong market being representative of the strong economy. |

One of these posts is not like the other. Separated by about a half hour. Might be a record. Thanks though. Shrek would not approve. |

Really? The first post just is stating that the market movers do not need an actual debate to factor in the incredibly weak Democrat field of Presidential contenders. It's been factored in for months. Says ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about what caused the recent market downswing. You were just somehow trying to make fun of the timing of a comment on the Democrat candidates and the occurrence of the most recent debate. The most recent debate is just one of many times they have had the opportunity to make fools of themselves. The second post is my (and most everybody's) opinion that the downturn is due to coronavirus fears. You can't figure out how those two thoughts are not mutually exclusive? So..... If Trump thinks the markets went down due to the weak field of Democrat candidates, then yes, I will disagree with him. That make you feel better? |

This is so GD ridiculous man. This is simple. AZ said "it's sad to see seombody blame Trump for something he had nothing to do with". I pointed out that TRUMP HIMSELF blamed the market downturn on people that had nothing to do with it! That's it! I'm pointing out the hypocrisy and will continue to do so! And the proof that they had nothing to do with it? THE MARKETS HAVE BEEN DOING FINE SINCE ALL OF THEM ANNOUNCED THEIR CANDIDACIES! THE MARKETS HAVE BEEN DOING FINE SINCE BERNIE HAS EMERGED AS THE FRONTRUNNER! You yourself implied in the first post that the markets could've very well been responding to the Democrats running for president! But in your second post you backtracked and said "99% sure" that they weren't! The market downturn is OBVIOUSLY because of fears of a pandemic and its effects on the global economy, AND NOT BECAUSE OF A DEMOCRATIC DEBATE ON TUESDAY NIGHT THAT OCCURRED AFTER THE DOWNTURN! I'm done with this topic. |
