It was really only what he could do. The public has no confidence in the CDC, and with panic ensuing, he succumbed to public pressure.

Well again, it just shows weak leadership. If the public was still buying what he was selling then reassurance should have been enough. All that would be needed would be get whoever in the admin on the Sunday Shows and in front of cameras. He is clearly worried about what would have happened if things got worse after doing that.

Obama met Sunday with his Ebola response team, and a White House statement afterward appeared to refer to the quarantine issue. In the meeting Obama "underscored that the steps we take must be guided by the best medical science, as informed by our most knowledgeable public health experts," the statement said.

All I need to hear.

Republicans or anyone else guided by bravado are not good leaders. You can lead people bravely off a cliff and pretend it is good leadership, but it is not.

Naw. There's an election a week away and every vote matters.

Far from it. He could have been a leader and fired the head of the CDC. Then he could have hired someone who people have confidence in as the leader of the CDC and watched over the CDC as it both improved overall and handled the "crisis"...which we can all see is more of a "crisis" in our minds than in reality.

We don't need a Czar or whatever he is. Creating Czars (something the President did not start but could have started to stop) is stupid. Some of them were created during the World Wars, so the practice goes back a ways, but we have cabinet secretaries for everything and the responsibility should be on them for their area of expertise. If they need help, get someone from that department to head up the response to a certain issue.

The press calling someone a Czar...well, they'll do what they do...the point is we don't need more government, we need less and more efficient government. Not more people to go to worthless meetings and produce little in the way of results...

Whats the difference between Christie and Palin.
Palin gets sued so she quits her job. Cant take the heat. A quitter.
Christie is no quitter "Whatever. Get in line. I’ve been sued lots of times before"

Not thrilled with Christie but I do respect him for not being a quitter unlike Palin

The difference between them?

Christie appears to be running for President; Palin does not at this point seem too interested.

Instead of just calling Palin a "quitter", perhaps at least consider some of the reasoning for her decision:

Christie's folks blocked a bridge to get back at someone. That shows he doesn't pick the best people for the job, much like the man who would be his immediate predecessor should he be elected.

I don't consider either of them a top-notch candidate for President at this point.

...but I guess your only point was to toss a jab at someone who holds no elected office at this point but has different views than yours...

A better question is to ask "what difference does it make?" People quit jobs all the time. Nothing wrong with it. More people need to quit more jobs because when you stay in a situation just to say "I'm no quitter!" you are depriving yourself. your replacement, and your employer all on a different level.

I never get the Left's fascination and utter
terror of Palin. She certainly would have
done better than the bumbling bonehead
we have in the WH now. But she's not
running, says she will never run, and acts
like she never will. She has a young special
needs kid and a big family, you can all relax.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

Palin quote from yesterday , Fox Business Network interview.
"So hey, the more they are pouring on, the more I'm gonna bug the crap out of them by being out there with the voice, with the message, hopefully running for office in the future too.”
