Let's take out even the argument that this was a quid pro quo. You're okay with a sitting POTUS asking the leader of a foreign country to investigate an American citizen?

And do you realize that if what Trump and the conspiracy theorists say about Joe and Hunter Biden were true, that Joe's actions actually made things harder for his son? His son gets a job he has no qualifications for because his dad is running for POTUS. Do you not see what is going on? Same as the Clinton Foundation getting donations right up until Hillary lost. Now, what you're doing is that you're throwing away ALL THE OTHER FACTS AND TIMELINE of events surrounding this theory that completely debunk it in exchange for, "well, it looks swampy so it must be swampy." The right's theory and the video of Biden that they say proves it implies that the Obama administration withheld money to Ukraine in exchange for ousting Shokin, the prosecutor who was investigating Burisma. In exchange, they were going to get a new investigator that would actually investigate corruption? Something that the entire world had been asking of Ukraine for years? Thus, making things tougher for Hunter? Yeah, sure makes a ton of sense!

If the Obama administration had a corrupt foreign policy towards Ukraine, which is what you are implying, why is Geoffrey Pyatt still employed in the Trump administration?

I am not going to defend Trump.

But, the State Dept. has a lot of vested interests. The President is the Commander in Chief for a reason, sometimes they have to make decisions on their own.
