It helps point out how many different groups are involved, not just Kurds, and the different factions of Kurds. Note that the elected government of Syria [Assad] isn't fighting against Erdogan, who is trying to establish a corridor where he can send the millions of refugees that are camped in his country. He wants them to either go home, or continue on to Europe. He doesn't want tent camps with 6 million foreigners living in them who have wants and needs that have to be provided for. Who is financing the Kurds? The last official act of any government is to loot the treasury. GW |

Lots of people including America give lots of money and support to the Kurds. They have a lot of sympathy from the international community (and rightfully so). |

The Kurds became "good" after the Gulf War, when their abuse by Saddam became well known. We were dropping food and supplies as Saddam attacked them after we ejected him from Kuwait. We allowed Iraq, to their amazement, to fly planes and choppers in that part of Iraq as part of the settlement. After he did that the "no fly zones" were established. So the Kurds became a bit like the Palestinians. Stateless minority, except they did not bow themselves up and hide behind women and children. They were a classic insurgency group to support to keep our enemies busy, except that they cross over to ally Turkey. So the game is harder to play. Methinks their usefulness to the USA is over for now. The President is a fink. |
