In Mexico, that was yesterday :) For the record Mother's Day in Mexico is celebrated on May 10th. Most people not working in restaurants get half the day off, f not the whole day.

They seem more or less interchangeable and are both translated as "to dig" (I think you could have used either one in your example), but if you are thinking of a dog or chicken scratching at the ground, then you would use "escarbar". If you are penetrating the ground then you would lean towards "cavar".   |

Yes, of course, just like "thimble" and "thumb" have a common etymology in English. My dictionary says one possible definition of "dedo" is "thimble". |

I guess this is what we would call be to "in laws" in English. However, in the context I found the word it says that mice are related to rats. The assignment for the advanced readers is to explain how to say somebody is a blood relative. Ejemplo time.
