“Upgrade” is a near future sci-fi flick that has its roots in the “AI good/bad” plotline that goes all the way back to “Frankenstein”. “2001 A Space Odyssey “, lots of episodes of Star Trek, and “Terminator” have covered the same premise. The writers of “Upgrade” do a good job of dressing it in a new skin. The revenge/justice plot is straightforward, and the SFX have been thought through to make the story, which revolves around an anti-technology “gear head” who, after a debilitating injury, is given the opportunity to add an experimental AI to his body to restore his functions, feel fresh and fun. Join those files with sometimes gory action, and your output is a pretty good time at the movies. Note that if you don’t think bloody action is fun, you should avoid this film as it will definitely put you off.

I give it 8 Trans-Ams out of 10.

We have a contender for worst movie
ever made.

"Gotti” starring John Travolta is just as bad as you might imagine, and then some.

It gets a 0% rating on Rotten
Tomatoes, I've never see that
before.

I finally watched Atonement today. That was a remarkable movie. It spans more than 60 years, with three different women playing the main character, and a very good cast besides.

I suspect the true movie buffs here have seen it long ago, but any who haven't, it's on Netflix. There were a couple of moments I didn't care for, but overall very watchable for men as well as women. On Aye's scale, I would give it 8 typewriter keys out of 10.

As the film is over a decade old, I suspect many have seen it. I however, have not, so I appreciate the recommendation.

Never heard of it. If Keira is in it, I'll
watch. I'd watch her do anything.

Quality British period drama. Ranked below Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in the domestic box office. $51 million in USA/Canada, $36 million in UK/Australia/New Zealand. Barely registers in China, Japan, Russia, Korea, etc.

That usually means you have to have more than the attention span of a gnat to enjoy it. (or a young kid)

She's the reason I watched it, her and Benedict Cumberbatch. They did not disappoint.

It's a movie.that is easily spoiled, so I won't say more.

Incredibles 2

Loved it. The Incredibles is my favorite Pixar movie, by far. This one isn't quite as good (sequels never are), but it's still highly entertaining. I'm glad to see it's a huge smash hit, with its opening weekend outperforming most Marvel movies.

When The Incredibles was released in 2004 it was the fourth highest computer generated animated film in history to that point, (behind Shrek, Shrek 2 and Monsters Inc). It was a critical and commercial success ranked as the fifth highest film that year.
1 Shrek 2
2 Spider-Man 2
3 The Passion of the Christ
4 Meet the Fockers
5 The Incredibles

It makes no sense why they would wait 14 years to do a sequel.

Other animated films come out with sequels every 3 or 4 years like clockwork.
05/16/01 Shrek
05/19/04 Shrek 2
05/18/07 Shrek the Third
05/21/10 Shrek Forever After
10/28/11 Puss in Boots
